Which ABS-CBN Shows Can Sharon Cuneta Fit In?
The Comeback Queen, Megastar Sharon Cuneta, has announced her return to her home network (ABS-CBN) of 23 years after moving to TV 5 in 2011. And with her return, we found ourselves thinking which projects will she be given next. We know she will be joining as a jury member in the new singing and impersonation competition, Your Face Sounds Familiar (which will start airing on March 14), but other than that – what’s next?
So, we thought of other alternatives for Mega and we found ourselves thinking – “which shows can she really fit in?” Here are 8 of our suggestions:
Since we miss her so much, of course we want to see her everyday. Yung tipong, gigising ka sa umaga tapos ang unang babati sa’yo ay si Tita Shawie ng: “Good morning mga Sharonians!” So why not add her to the Umagang Kay Ganda (UKG) barkada? Re-format na rin the show and change the title to: Umagang Kay Mega or better yet, Bonggang Umaga with Sharon Cuneta.
Or ask her to join Kris TV as Darla’s replacement. Ang powerful lang ng combination ni Sharon and Kris, and of course winner ito among advertisers as well. “Sharon, eattt ka naaaa…”
It’s Showtime can be another viable option. Imagine the madlang people enthusiastically shouting at Mega, “sample, sample, sample!” in the Magpasikat segment. Syempre, song and dance yan si Mega with matching lifting a la “The Sharon Cuneta” show.
Pwede din siyang host ng The Buzz. Yun lang, since madami na sila, ang magiging issue nila ay ang agawan ng air time.
If di siya papayag na mawala sa same timeslot as “Sharon” before, then maybe the closest she can get ay mag co-host kay Korina Sanchez sa Rated K. Baka mas bagay sa kanya ang mga regular Ginko Biloba Herbal and Maligno/Aswang segments. Of course, they will need to rename the show to something like—“Si Korina at si Mega” or something na mas napapanahon, “The Politicians’ Wives.” And we bet, eto ang ika-ka threaten ni Jessica Soho and her competing show sa bigat ng dating ni Mega sa kanyang legions of fans.
Back in TV 5, Sharon also gave comedy a shot via the series, Madam Chairman. Given her effortless comic acting prowess, it’ll be a winner if she joins the cast of Goin’ Bulilit. Yun nga lang, kailangan pa-graduate-in na si Dagul, otherwise dalawa na silang adults. Better din kung ang bagong name ng show ay, Goin’ Bulilit Meets The Biggest Loser. In all fairness naman kasi, ang laki na ng pinayat ni Shawie.
Para The View na talaga ang arrive ng 3-in-1 hosts Karen Davila and K Brosas, baka we can replace Attorney Clare Castro with a much bigger presence of star, a la Rosie O’Donnell. And we can see Sharon to fit the bill.
But since this is the Queen’s comeback, dapat pasabog talaga ang kanyang pagbabalik. Yung tipong pati si Mam Charo kakabahan.
So why not, sa kanya na lang ang Maalaala Mo Kaya, tutal busy na rin si Ms. Charo Santos-Concio as ABS-CBN’s acting President. Change the show’s title na rin para to complete the revamp: “Maalaala Mo Kaya with Tita Shawie.” Ang saya lang kung siya rin yung starring sa first episode niya with the working title “SuperFerry.” Paandar lang din kung nakahiga siya habang nagbabasa ng liham ng mga letter senders: “Dear Tita Shawie…”
Whichever show she ends up in, we’re just happy that she’s finally back on ABS-CBN once again. After all, wala naman talagang papantay sa nag-iisang Megastar.
