It was hard to believe Binibini #39 Dia Nicole Magno used to weigh 65 pounds heavier. In an intimate bloggers’ interview, the 24-year old Binibining Pilipinas 2019 candidate shared with us her inspiring shedding off the excess weight and transformation from being an athlete to a beauty queen. Her eyes lit up while talking about how getting the title would help her further her advocacies — passion for sports, empowerment of both children and women, inspiration for those dealing with weight problems, and love for her hometown Butuan.

Dia (pronounced as Da-yah, not Dee-yah) is an AB Interdisciplinary Studies graduate from Ateneo de Manila University and used to be the country’s representative in international badminton competitions. This, she says, is an experience that gives her the boost as a Binibini. Representing the Philippine flag abroad is something she is already accustomed and dedicated to.

Here’s her official introduction as a Binibini:

What Dia also proudly takes with her is the love of her fellow Butuanons. Aside from a loving family who backs her up in pursuing this dream, Dia’s kababayans in the Caraga region also come in full force. The following video produced by Dia’s supporters is a testament of their love and support.

WATCH our fun and candid interview with Dia to get to know her better. She talks about her journey to being a Binibini (like switching to heels from sneakers as a long-time athlete!), shares her weight loss secret, and spills the details on the advocacies close to her heart. These advocacies mirror her passions and are the ones she will champion once she wins a crown.

Looking great with her barely-there makeup

Let’s watch out for Dia’s performance at the Binibining Pilipinas 2019 Grand Coronation Night on June 9, 8PM, at the Araneta Coliseum.
