Prior to the coronation night of Miss World Philippines held on June 5, the 36 then-candidates vying for the local Miss World crown impressed pageant fans and spectators with a runway spectacle held on June 1 at Okada Manila’s Grand Ballroom in Parañaque City.

This year’s Miss World Philippines charity gala were divided into three segments – the talent presentation, the Creative Wear and the Top Model Competition, putting a spotlight on established and up-and-coming Filipino designers with their unique and creative interpretations. During the gala night, Miss World Philippines Organization introduced its first-ever Creative Wear segment where candidates gracefully strut the runway donning colorful costumes that best represents their hometown.

San Juan City’s Cassandra Chan and Cebu’s Maria Gigante were announced winners of two special awards at the end of the night – Best Creative Editorial and Best Fashion Photo.

Capping off the over four-hour event was the Evening Gown portion where the delegates elegantly presented proudly Filipino-made evening gowns. Dressed to the nines, the aspiring beauty queens were shining and glowing as they walked on stage, empowering fellow Filipinas and Filipino designers as well. From 36, the ladies were trimmed down to ten in preparation of the coronation night.

Among this year’s sponsors of Miss World Philippines is Bluewater Day Spa, one of the country’s leading spa chains and a supportive partner of the Miss World Philippines Organization. Negros Occidental’s 21-year-old Gwendolyne Fourniol was later on crowned as the country’s delegate to the 71st edition of Miss World.
