ABS-CBN Gears Up for ‘La Banda’ (The Making of the Pinoy Boyband)
ABS-CBN is now in the lookout for the newest and hottest Pinoy Boyband. Who will be the next five singing heartthrobs in the country?
Come to think of it, have we really produced a popular boyband in the country?
The closest we possibly got was the Apo Hiking Society (with Danny Javier, Jim Paredes and Buboy Garovillo) – which was more of novelty rather than pop in genre.
And then we had The Hunks (with Piolo Pascual, Jericho Rosales, Diether Ocampo, Carlos Agassi and Bernard Palance) – which were more popular individual stars rather than a single band that just got together for a variety show (ASAP) and and a few concerts:
What about the Masculados? Probably not, as they were to raunchy and sexy.
So clearly there’s a gap in the market which the show aims to fill: find a marketable young male group.
