Iconic Filipino band Aegis is gearing up for a two-night Valentine’s concert, “Halik sa Ulan: A Valentine Special,” on February 1 and 2, 2025, at the Frontier Theater. The band, known for their powerful vocals and dramatic performances, will feature Juliet and Ken Sunot on vocals, Stella Pabico on keyboard, Vilma Goloviongo on drums, Weng Adriano on bass, and Rey Abenoja on lead guitar. Fans can anticipate a setlist packed with Aegis classics like “Basang-Basa sa Ulan,” “Luha,” and “Sayang na Sayang.”

A New Chapter
This concert marks a significant turning point for Aegis. It’s their first major performance since the passing of their lead vocalist, Mercy Sunot. At a press conference held on January 9th, 2025, at Viva Cafe, the band members shared their thoughts and emotions about this new chapter.

“Siguro maiba kasi wala si Mercy pero kailangan namin along galingan kasi iba talaga yung kumpleto kami.” Juliet shared, reflecting on the challenge of performing without Mercy. She added, with emotion in her voice, “kailangan talagang pagpatuloy namin kasi nasimulan na po namin.”
Ken also expressed the pressure of taking on a more prominent vocal role. “Kakayanin ko, at mas gagalingan ko pa at sana challenge saakin ito,” he stated, determined to rise to the occasion.
Navigating the Absence
The band members acknowledged the difficulty of adjusting to their new dynamic. “Iba po talaga yung nasanay na po kami na kumpleto lalo na po kapag may concert” Juliet admitted.
Stella elaborated on the timeline of Mercy’s absence, stating, “Actually last April pa naman wala si Mercy samin sa grupo kasi nasa US nagpapagaling siya, So far naman sa mga shows sa mga gigs namin maayos naman yung performances pero kasi ito major show so andun talaga yung hahanapin talaga siya.”
A Star-Studded Tribute
“Halik sa Ulan” promises to be a special event with a lineup of guest artists. On the first night, audiences can expect performances from Morissette Amon, rising band Formula 5, and a surprise guest. The second night will feature Ogie Alcasid, Jona, Julie Anne San Jose, and Formula 5.

The concert is not only a celebration of Aegis’ music, but also a tribute to Mercy Sunot’s indelible contribution to the band’s legacy. Part of the proceeds from the concert will go to her family.
Despite the heavy hearts, Aegis is ready to deliver a powerful and emotional performance at the Frontier Theater this February. It’s a testament to their resilience, their love for music, and their commitment to honoring Mercy’s memory.
