It’s never too late to chase your dreams. Whether you’re young or old, the pursuit of knowledge and personal growth should always be encouraged. Life may take us on different paths, but the desire to learn and achieve can burn bright within us, regardless of our age. The new film “Silay” beautifully illustrates this idea, reminding us that it’s never too late to pursue our aspirations.
A Heartwarming Tale of Two Generations
“Silay,” the debut film from Mace Ascending Entertainment, tells the story of an unlikely pair brought together by a shared passion for education. Veteran actress Malou de Guzman takes center stage as Silay, a grandmother who, inspired by her granddaughter Leslie (played by Francine Diaz), decides to return to school to finally earn her diploma. The film follows their journey as they navigate the challenges and triumphs of pursuing education, highlighting the unique bond that forms between them.
Malou de Guzman, in her first leading role, expressed her joy and gratitude for the opportunity. “Of course, I was thrilled! It’s an honor that after all this time, someone trusts in my abilities and recognizes the work I’ve done,” she shared. Describing her experience working with Francine Diaz, she added, “She was kind and professional.”
A Message of Empowerment
Francine Diaz, who plays the supportive granddaughter, emphasized the film’s powerful message. “It’s an inspiration and a life lesson for everyone. We really want the audience to remember the importance of education, to pursue it relentlessly because it’s something that can never be taken away from you.”
“Silay” goes beyond entertainment; it advocates for the importance of lifelong learning. Producer Rachelle Umandap, speaking at the film’s screening and press conference, highlighted this message. “This is our very first movie, and we are happy to produce a very inspiring story for everyone with Ms. Malou de Guzman, Ms. Francine Diaz, and the whole cast. Expect Mace Ascending Entertainment Productions to continue producing wonderful films for Filipinos.”
Bringing Inspiration to the Big Screen
To further spread its message, “Silay” will be premiered in various schools, ensuring that its story reaches and inspires a wide audience. The film serves as a powerful reminder that education is a right and a gift, one that should be cherished and pursued by people of all ages.
