On April 9, Day of Valor (Araw ng Kagitingan), a day traditionally dedicated to remembering the nation’s historic heroes, a different kind of tribute took place at the Fairmont Makati, one that honors the Filipinos among us who have been doing heroic work all along.
For years, many of them have done this work unseen. Now, there is a movement determined to change that.
A Nationwide Search for Everyday Heroism
Hero for All: Honoring Stories of the Everyday Filipino is a nationwide initiative that shines a light on individuals whose sustained acts of service have made a real difference in their communities.
Launched on Araw ng Kagitingan, the program sets out to find 20 Filipinos whose compassion, courage, and commitment have created lasting impact. This is proof that heroism lives not just in extraordinary moments, but in everyday choices.
Behind the campaign is a collaboration between Casino Plus and the Alden Richards (AR) Foundation, combining scale and advocacy to bring these stories to the forefront.
Alden Richards and the Advocacy Behind the Campaign
At the heart of the initiative is Alden Richards, whose work through the AR Foundation has long focused on helping underprivileged Filipinos access education and build better futures.
The foundation’s mission is rooted in the belief that opportunity can change lives and that real progress comes from sustained support, not one-time gestures. That same belief carries into Hero for All — recognizing people not just for a single act, but for consistent, meaningful service.
For Alden, the campaign is about shifting perspective, reminding people that today’s heroes are not distant figures, but ordinary individuals choosing to help others despite their own struggles.
Recognition That Builds and Celebrates
The initiative goes beyond symbolic recognition.
Twenty selected heroes will each receive a specially designed puzzle-piece trophy representing how individual acts of heroism connect to form something bigger. When all 20 pieces come together, they create a single heart-shaped installation, symbolizing shared impact and collective strength.
Each honoree will also receive a total of PHP 1 million, shared between their personal needs and a community cause of their choice, ensuring their work continues and grows.
More importantly, the platform gives them visibility. Their stories are meant to be shared, learned from, and carried forward by others across the country.
How to Nominate a Hero
Nominations are open from April 10 to May 1, 2026, and the process is designed to be accessible to as many people as possible.
Entries may be submitted through the Casino Plus app, official social media platforms, or through offline nomination postcards distributed nationwide. This move ensures participation even without reliable internet access.
To nominate someone, the following are required:
- The nominee’s name and location
- A 150-word description of their act of service
- At least one supporting material (photo, news link, or endorsement letter)
Video nominations are also accepted via social media by tagging Casino Plus and using #CasinoPlusHeroForAll.
All submissions will go through a validation and verification process before being endorsed to the jury.
Credible Selection Process
To maintain integrity, entries will be evaluated through a structured and independently verified scoring system overseen by both Casino Plus and the AR Foundation.
The final selection will be made by a diverse jury panel composed of:
- An academician
- A respected media personality
- A representative from PAGCOR
- Alden Richards
This ensures that each story is not only inspiring, but also credible and impactful.
National Moment
The journey culminates on August 31, 2026, during National Heroes Day, where the 20 selected individuals will be formally honored.
But the goal reaches beyond a single ceremony because the true measure of honoring a hero is making sure their work lives on –growing, inspiring, and creating ripples far beyond the moment they are recognized.
