AlDub’s Tamang Panahon Hashtag Makes it to Guinness World Records List
Last night, Maine Mendoza shared a Guinness World Records article featuring the five key tweets that made record-breaking history. This list was made in commemoration of Twitter’s 10 years of existence. In the said article, the #AlDubEBTamangPanahon used during Eat Bulaga’s Sa Tamang Panahon concert at the Philippine Arena last year was mentioned as the most used hashtag in 24 hours with 40,706,392 uses from October 24-October 25, 2015. It was the day Lola Nidora (Wally Bayola) of the Kalyeserye segment finally allowed splitscreen couple Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza‘s character “Yaya Dub” or “Divina” to meet in the flesh and interact.
It was really interesting to see how a Filipino hashtag made it to the list where other tweets were of international interest. This goes to show how tech-savvy Pinoys have become and of course, how powerful and social media-influential the AlDub Nation is! (AlDub Nation is the collective term for the fans and supporters of Eat Bulaga’s Alden Richards and Maine “Yaya Dub” Mendoza’s tandem)
Other significant tweets were:
- Twitter inventor Jack Dorsey’s first tweet saying “just setting up my twittr” on March 22, 2016
- Caitlyn Jenner’s Vanity Fare cover shoot which made her the fastest ever time to reach one million followers on Twitter
- Germany’s win against Argentina in the 2014 World Cup earned itself the record for most tweets per minute
- Ellen DeGeneres’ selfie with other Hollywood stars at the 2014 Oscars is the most retweeted message
