Arjo Atayde cements his international success after clinching another ContentAsia win
Actor and politician Arjo Atayde has further cemented his international reputation with a significant win at the 2024 ContentAsia Awards. He took home the Best Male Lead in a TV Program/Series award for his compelling performance as Anton dela Rosa in the gripping series Cattleya Killer.
Cattleya Killer, a collaborative effort between ABS-CBN and Nathan Studios, is a Filipino crime-thriller that made its global debut on Prime Video on June 1, 2023. Under the direction of Dan Villegas and penned by Dodo Dayao, the series follows a murder investigation that connects to a past case involving a notorious serial killer. The show expertly blends suspense, mystery, and psychological drama, exploring the hidden secrets of its characters and their links to the murders.
The series has garnered worldwide praise for its engrossing storyline, high-quality production, and outstanding performances, particularly Atayde’s, establishing it as a standout among recent Filipino crime dramas.
At the awards ceremony in Taipei, Atayde expressed sincere thanks to those who contributed to his success. “Thank you to everyone. I’m forever indebted to all the actors that I work with, to the people behind the camera, to everyone who’s helped me be here, gather all this power to actually pull through this good series.”
He also acknowledged his family’s backing, especially his wife, Maine Mendoza. “It’s my first time in Taipei, this is such a reward for a first time here,” he shared. “Last but not the least, my family. Thank you so much to my family for supporting so much, to my wife who understands so much of the hard work that we have to pull through to be able to do this.”
Atayde also recognized the support from his ABS-CBN family during the production. “To ABS-CBN, Tita Cory Vidanes, Sir Carlo Katigbak, and of course, to Sir Ruel Bayani, thank you so much for this opportunity. To the Filipinos, to ABS-CBN, maraming, maraming salamat po,” he said.
His portrayal in Cattleya Killer surpassed five other finalists to secure the 2024 ContentAsia Awards trophy. Atayde’s nuanced performance as Anton dela Rosa impressed both viewers and critics, ultimately earning him this prestigious recognition.
This achievement adds to Atayde’s growing list of international honors. It follows his 2020 Best Actor win at the Asian Academy Creative Awards for his role in Bagman, where he played a barber caught up in the dangerous world of politics. That victory made him the first Filipino to receive an award at this highly respected platform for creative excellence in the region.
Apart from his successful acting career, Atayde currently serves as Representative of the First District of Quezon City, a position he won decisively in the 2022 elections. His dedication to both his artistic pursuits and public service highlights his diverse contributions to Philippine society.
