Australia-based siblings launch Filipino brand ‘The Pino Collection’ in Adelaide
The Pino Collection started as a passion project between siblings Paolo and Denise Avis. As new migrants to Australia, the siblings quickly realised that Filipino culture and heritage are not as visible in South Australia compared to other Asian cultures.

They thought of bringing a piece of their culture and heritage to the place they now call home through the launch of The Pino Collection.

“Pino” is short for “Filipino,” but in Tagalog language, it also means fine, refined and polished—perfectly capturing the heart of the brand.

The Pino Collection aims to be a social enterprise that empowers Filipino artisan communities, helping them create sustainable livelihoods while bridging the gap between these artisans and the world.

Meet the Artisan Partners:
- Inabel Weavers of La Union (Northern Luzon) – These skilled women use centuries-old wooden handlooms to craft intricate blankets, towels, and ponchos, preserving a rich weaving tradition.
- Abaca Handbag Makers of Sorsogon (Southeastern Luzon) – Abaca, a plant native to the Philippines and part of the banana family, is transformed into durable and stylish handbags.
- Rattan & Pandan Weavers of Cebu & the Visayas – These artisans craft solihiya bags, inspired by the classic woven pattern found in Filipino furniture—now making waves in international luxury fashion.
- Coco Coir Artisans of Bulacan (Central Luzon) – Using coconut fibre, they create handcrafted animal planters that double as quirky wine bottle holders.
Looking ahead, the vision is to grow, supporting more artisan communities across the Philippines while bringing unique, handcrafted pieces to Australia and beyond.

At The Pino Collection, they believe in craftsmanship over mass production. Each item you own is exclusive, culturally rich, and one-of-a-kind.
