“As you already know, lahat ng mga press gusto akong tanungin, opo, me and my family are very happy. My son is eight months old na,” a smiling Joaquin Domagoso, also known as JD, finally confirmed the news that he is already a father after months of speculation. The admission took place at the media conference for his film That Boy in the Dark yesterday, Friday, December 30, at West Avenue Suites.

“Mahirap po talaga umalis ng bahay. Lagi ko siyang miss. Katulad ngayon, nag-wowork ako,” Joaquin continued. “Marami na pong feelings na hindi mo mararamdaman talaga kasi you weren’t a father before. So, now that you are, parang iba na ‘yung mundo. Kaya po, mahirap siya kasi you have so many feelings all the time. Nakakaiyak, nakakatuwa. Iba na po. ‘Yung mga nakita ko before, mga hindi ko naiintindihan na sinasabi ng tatay ko, or ‘yung Mama ko, ngayon parang nagegets ko na. Kaya ito ginawa, kasi gusto nila ganito ang mangyari sa akin. Ayun po, maraming salamat po.”

Asked why he finally admitted, a laughing Joaquin said he had no way out. The moment he stepped into the room, he said, some members of the press were already asking him about the issue. If he had it his way, the award-winning actor and celebrity son of former Manila mayor and recent presidential candidate Isko Moreno told Random Republika that he wanted to keep things private and give his son the privacy. He emphasized that there was not a moment in the past eight months that he had the urge of breaking his silence. He truly enjoyed every moment of being with his son and partner in private.

Joaquin is currently in a relationship with the mother of his child, another celebrity kid, Raffa Castro. Raffa is the daughter of Diego Castro and grandchild of the late broadcast journalists Angelo Castro Jr. and June Keithley.

At the media conference, Joaquin was given the international acting award certificate he bagged for the film directed by Adol Alix Jr. and written by Gina Marissa Tagasa. Also starring in the movie are Aneeza Gutierrez, Kiko Ipapo, Glydel Mercado, and Lotlot de Leon.

That Boy in the Dark has earned recognition from international film festivals. Filipinos will have a chance to catch the feature film in cinemas starting January 8, 2023.
