Financial inclusion reached a new milestone as senatorial candidate Luis “Chavit” Singson officially launched VBank, a digital banking platform, at the Bridgetowne Destination Estate in Quezon City on December 15, 2024.
Over 500 attendees witnessed the unveiling of the mobile banking application designed to serve Filipinos nationwide, particularly those in areas with limited access to traditional banking services.
“This is not just about banking; it’s about giving every Filipino the tools to participate in our economy,” Singson said during the launch. “VBank makes it possible for anyone, regardless of location, to access essential financial services.”
Comedy superstar Ai Ai delas Alas joined Singson in demonstrating the app’s features, which include paperless account opening, money transfers to all banks and digital wallets, bill payments, and mobile load purchases. The platform is supported by more than 6,000 cash-in locations across the country, including Tambunting Pawnshops, Puregold, and Alfamart.
During the press conference, Singson announced the “58 Days Pa-Raffle ni Manong Chavit” promotion, which will run until February 11, 2025. The campaign will award ₱5,800 to 58 winners daily, with an additional winner receiving ₱58,000. One grand prize winner will take home ₱580,000 at the campaign’s conclusion.
The launch comes as recent Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas data indicates that 77 percent of Filipinos remain unbanked. VBank aims to address this gap by providing essential financial services through a user-friendly mobile platform.
“We’re creating growth opportunities, especially in areas like Pangasinan, where access to financial services is limited,” Singson added. The platform offers services ranging from basic account management to loans and fund transfers, all accessible without visiting physical bank branches.
