A Tale of Love, Loss, and Tradition
“Paquil” follows Christina, a woman at a crossroads in her life, as she returns to her hometown of Pakil. Amid personal and professional challenges, she feels a strong urge to revive the town’s cherished but fading tradition of Komedya, a form of traditional Filipino theater deeply woven into Pakil’s heritage. As she immerses herself in preparations for the town’s revered Turumba Festival, Christina’s path takes an unexpected turn when she encounters Paolo, played by JM de Guzman.

Bound by a shared desire for redemption, Christina and Paolo forge a deep connection. Their quest to revitalize the Komedya not only breathes new life into the town’s cultural identity but also leads them on a journey of self-discovery and healing. “Paquil” beautifully portrays the intertwining of personal and communal journeys, where tradition provides comfort and resilience in the face of life’s trials.
