As technology continues to change in our society, Beetzee Play has launched “Saving Sarah,” its first vertical series in the Philippines. This romantic-comedy drama, starring JC Alcantara and Yuki Takahashi, is directed by Barry Gonzales and promises to entertain with unexpected plot twists.

Fresh Filipino Stories for Smartphone Viewing
Beetzee Play aims to bring more original Filipino stories designed for smartphone viewing, with episodes priced at just one peso each. No need to download the Beetzee Play app; you can stream directly using your Maya or GCash app.

“To make it more accessible, we said, oh let’s be in the different e-wallets instead of trying to get users, let’s meet the users where they are,” said Mr. Dae Lee, Chief Operations Officer of Beetzee Play.

Supporting Filipino Talent
Ms. Pia Alviola, Co-founder and Managing Partner of Beetzee Play, expressed enthusiasm about collaborating with industry talents. “We are excited to provide a new platform for Filipino talents; we’ll be working with Filipino writers, directors, and fresh actors, bringing new perspectives to the vertical screen.”

A Unique Approach to Storytelling
Director Barry Gonzales highlighted what sets Filipino vertical series apart from those created in other countries. “This one is very different also because we tackle the sensitivity ng mga Pilipino pa rin. Wala kang binabago sa series; tuloy pa din tayo sa kwento natin na parang normal lang din yung kwento natin, but ang pinagkaiba lang ay it’s vertical.”
With the introduction of “Saving Sarah,” a new format is paving the way for Filipino creators to explore innovative storytelling methods. The vertical series format makes Filipino content readily accessible to a new audience.
You can now stream “Saving Sarah” on Beetzee Play and Maya. Visit beetzeeplay.com for updates.
