For Bianca De Vera and Esnyr, life in showbiz is about more than the roles they play or the image people see on screen.
During the Star Magic Spotlight Press Conference, the two longtime friends opened up about the realities behind their public personas, discussing independence, heartbreak, personal growth, friendship, and their hopes for the future.
While both continue to build their careers in entertainment, Bianca and Esnyr admitted that being in the public eye often comes with assumptions that do not necessarily reflect who they are off-camera.
Bianca De Vera: breaking the “Spoiled Brat” Label
Bianca took the opportunity to address what she considers one of the biggest misconceptions about her—that being an only child automatically means she was raised as a spoiled or dependent daughter.
“I feel like it’s a misconception because only child ako,” Bianca said. “I pay for all of my bills—gas, food, groceries, lahat-lahat ng bills. Although kaya nila (parents), but they don’t do it because gusto nila lumaki ako ng independent.”
Although her parents have the means to support her, Bianca explained that they intentionally encouraged her to become self-sufficient. For her, handling her own expenses has become an important part of growing up and taking responsibility for her life.
Her experience, she said, is a reminder that public perception can sometimes be based on assumptions rather than reality. Rather than being defined by how others view her, Bianca hopes people take the time to know the person behind the image.
Esnyr Chooses Himself After Heartbreak
For Esnyr, his current chapter is less about proving himself to others and more about putting his energy back into his own growth.
After experiencing heartbreak, the content creator-turned-actor and host said he has decided to redirect the love and effort he once gave to another person toward his art and career.
“This is the season of my life to rebuild myself, to pour the love na sa art ko, sa craft ko, more than i-boost ko siya sa pagmamahal sa maling tao,” he said. “I don’t want to lose myself, I don’t want to lose the heart that I pour in everything that I do.”
That mindset also extends to his career. As someone who continues to create content while taking on acting and hosting opportunities, Esnyr said he does not want to be defined by one viral achievement.
“I don’t want to be remembered sa isang success lang. I want to be remembered as someone who’s continuously striving and doing his best,” he shared.
For Esnyr, success is therefore not simply about reaching one major milestone. It is about continuing to show up, improve, and remain committed to his craft.
A Friendship That Survived the Highs and Lows
Their friendship has also played an important role in helping both artists navigate life in the entertainment industry.
Bianca recalled being there for Esnyr during one of the most difficult periods of his life, while Esnyr credited Bianca for remaining genuine toward him even as their careers continued to grow.
“I hope you never change,” Bianca told Esnyr, describing him as one of the most genuine people she knows.
Their closeness has also carried over to their work. The pair previously appeared together in The Secrets of Hotel 88, where they said their existing friendship helped make their scenes feel more natural and made long days on set more enjoyable.
When asked about working together again, Bianca said she would love to do a romantic comedy with Esnyr in the future. Esnyr, meanwhile, suggested taking their on-screen partnership in a different direction by playing rivals.
New Projects, New Chapters
Both artists are also entering new phases in their respective careers.
Bianca is set to headline her first fan concert with Dustin Yu on August 8, marking another milestone in her journey as an artist.
Esnyr, meanwhile, is taking on a new hosting opportunity through Hello Outside World, where he joins Bianca Gonzalez.
As they continue to take on new roles and opportunities, Bianca and Esnyr are also learning to embrace the parts of themselves that exist beyond the cameras.
Their stories may be unfolding in different ways, but both artists share the same goal: to keep growing without losing who they are along the way.
