Viva Films and Evolve Studios present ‘Posthouse,’ a psychological horror film that marks the feature directorial debut of Nikolas Red. He collaborated with his brother, Mikhail Red—an acclaimed director known for ‘Deleter’ and ‘Lilim’—who serves as creative producer. The film stars Sid Lucero and Bea Binene, and follows the haunting story of an old film’s restoration that awakens a dark force connected to a haunted past.
‘Posthouse’ centers on Cyril, a troubled film editor working in a deteriorating post-production facility established by his estranged father, Edd. Cyril is haunted by childhood trauma related to his mother Judy’s unresolved murder and a supernatural encounter linked to it. As years pass, he struggles to keep his life together, burdened by his inner demons and a fractured family life.
Amid the chaos, Cyril finds solace in his work and in guiding his daughter, Rea, a passionate film student. Although they collaborate professionally, their relationship remains emotionally distant due to their strained connection. Everything begins to change when a mysterious package of reels leads them to restore the silent film ‘Ang Manananggal.’
What starts as a simple restoration quickly turns into a sinister revival, unleashing terrifying events. As they piece together the vintage reels on an old Moviola, Cyril and Rea realize they are missing a crucial part of the puzzle. Unsettling phenomena emerge—strange apparitions manifest, reels disappear and reappear, and people around them start dying. The deeper they dive into the restoration, the more the film seems to bleed into reality. Cyril must confront a dark presence he has long tried to forget—one he has faced before.

This film represents a bold new chapter for Nikolas Red, an accomplished editor and writer. He received acclaim for his editing work on ‘Deleter’ (2022), which won Best Editing at the Metro Manila Film Festival, and on ‘Eerie’ (2018), another successful horror. He also co-wrote ‘Dead Kids’ (2019), the first Filipino Netflix original, and his short film ‘Putol’ (2021) premiered at the International Silent Film Festival Manila. ‘Posthouse’ is his first feature as a director, bringing his keen editorial sense and deep passion for horror.

Sid Lucero stars as Cyril; he is one of the most compelling actors of his generation, known for his intense, layered performances across independent and mainstream cinema. Bea Binene delivers a memorable performance as Rea, showcasing a more mature and emotionally grounded side of her acting. The cast is rounded out by Ryza Cenon, Rafa Siguion Reyna, and Andrea del Rosario, all bringing versatility to their key roles and elevating the story.
