C’mon! SM malls bring Pokémon on a nationwide tour
A six-meter-tall Pikachu inflatable greets visitors at the Block Atrium in SM North EDSA. This larger-than-life Pokémon is the centerpiece of the Pokémon Fun Day, a special event running from January 31 to February 13. Fans of all ages can immerse themselves in a world of Pokémon, with activities and attractions designed to delight.
More Than Just a Giant Pikachu
The Pokémon Fun Day offers more than just a photo opportunity with a massive Pikachu. Visitors can participate in free Pokémon Trading Card Game tutorial sessions, perfect for beginners wanting to learn the ropes. A selection of licensed Pokémon merchandise, including toys, apparel, and trading cards, is available for purchase. For those who prefer digital adventures, a Pokémon video game demo area allows players to experience the latest games. And, of course, Pikachu himself makes appearances for meet-and-greet sessions.
Across the Philippines
The fun doesn’t stop at SM North EDSA. The Pokémon Fun Day caravan will travel to various SM malls across the Philippines, bringing the Pokémon experience to different communities. The schedule includes SM Mall of Asia (Feb 18 – March 2), SM Southmall (March 9-23), SM East Ortigas (March 28-April 11), SM Taytay (April 16-30), SM Angono (May 5-19), SM Marikina (May 24-June 7), SM San Mateo (June 11-25), SM Caloocan (June 30-July 14), SM Fairview (July 19-Aug 2), SM San Jose Del Monte (Aug 11-25), SM Davao (Sept 1-15), and SM Iloilo (Sept 22-Oct 6).
The People Behind the Fun
The Pokémon Fun Day launch at SM North EDSA on January 31 was attended by key figures from the organizations involved. Joaquin L. San Agustin, SM Supermalls Group Head – Executive Vice President, was present, along with Susumu Fukunaga, The Pokémon Company Asia Business Development Corporate Officer. Tsutomu Kondo, Animation International Philippines Director, and Coach Rio Dela Cruz, RUNRIO Inc. President and CEO, also joined the event.

Running with Pokémon
For those who prefer a more active celebration, the Pokémon Run is scheduled for February 9, 2025, at the SM Mall of Asia Complex. Organized by RUNRIO, the event features races of varying distances: 10K, 5K, 3K, and 1K. Information about the run can be found on RUNRIO’s official social media pages.
