Czech actress Sara Sandeva top-bills Borracho Films’ ‘Spring in Prague’ with Paolo Gumabao
Atty. Ferdie Topacio is known for his controversial cases in politics and entertainment. This time, the celebrity lawyer is carving his space in the movie industry as the producer behind Borracho Films. The film outfit produced the recent Metro Manila Film Festival Mamasapano.
For its upcoming project, Borracho Films is producing a film that presents a love story between a Filipino and a Czech. Topacio learned from the embassy of the Philippines to Czech Republic that there are many Filipino men falling in love with Czech women. Spring in Prague, the film’s title, was written by award-winning writer Eric Ramos. He is also the brains behind the blockbuster hit Rainbow’s Sunset.
“Magandang gawing movie!,” Topacio exclaimed while relating how he learned about the growing number of marriages between Filipinos and Czechs. “As it turns out, 2023 is the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Czech Republic (formerly known as Czechoslovakia) and the Republic of the Philippines.” The lawyer-producer announced the details of the film in a grand media conference at the Valle Verde Country Club.
Topacio takes pride in coming up with an international project to be shot in Prague. The cameras have started rolling here in the Philippines as one of Czech’s top actresses, Sara Sandeva, is in the country for filming. By her side in the media launch is rising Filipino actor Paolo Gumabao.
“Magandang araw po and thank you very much for having me,” Sandeva greeted the press in Filipino, sounding so cute with her foreign accent. She thanked Topacio and Borracho Films for bringing her to the Philippines for the first time and for making her the lead actress of the project. She ended her welcome speech by telling Gumabao, “Thank you, Paolo, for being the best leading partner I could ever wish for.” Gumabao also said his thank you speech and raved about how kind and talented his foreign leading lady is.
Borracho films is giving opportunities to fresh talents in this upcoming project. Watch out for Marco Gomez, Tori Topacio, Keahnna Reyes, and Esel Ponce.
