In modern Pinoy cinema, few directors explore the realities of modern relationships with the same sensitivity as Dan Villegas. Through stories that feel both intimate and relatable, he has developed a voice that combines emotional honesty with moments of wit and warmth. His films have come to be recognized for reflecting the quiet truths of love, life, and the complicated spaces in between. Somehow, you know that when he’s behind a film, it’s most likely a good one.

Over the years, he has directed several notable romantic films, including English Only, Please, Walang Forever, and The Breakup Playlist. His work often focuses on the quiet, emotional moments that define relationships, making his stories feel deeply relatable.

Villegas is also the co-founder of Project 8 Projects, alongside filmmaker Antoinette Jadaone. Together, they have helped shape contemporary Filipino storytelling through character-driven films that reflect modern experiences.

Villegas’ latest project, Almost Us, introduces a fresh love team to the big screen. Produced by Regal Entertainment and Project 8 Projects, the film stars former Pinoy Big Brother housemates JM Ibarra and Fyang Smith in their first full-length film together.

The romantic drama explores the bittersweet space between friendship and love—relationships shaped by timing, choices, and the question of what might have been.

Set for theatrical release on May 6, Almost Us continues Villegas’ tradition of telling heartfelt stories that reflect the realities of modern love. 🎬✨
