David Licauco and Sanya Lopez set to bring comedy and chaos to the big screen in ‘Samahan ng mga Makasalanan’
GMA Pictures is offering something refreshingly bold this April 19 with Samahan ng mga Makasalanan, a satirical comedy that explores the clash between sin and salvation — with humor as its main weapon.
Set in the wildly misbehaving town of Sto. Kristo, the film opens in a place so full of misdeeds it makes biblical cities look tame. From petty crimes to rampant gossip, Sto. Kristo has seen better days.

That’s where David Licauco steps in — or rather, his character does. As Deacon Sam, David plays a young and idealistic church worker assigned to the town. His mission? To pull the townspeople away from their sinful ways and lead them toward spiritual renewal.
David as Deacon Sam
With belief that no one is beyond saving, Deacon Sam launches the “Samahan ng mga Makasalanan” — a movement designed to bring the community back on track. His goal is simple but ambitious: turn sinners into saints.

But as residents begin to change — thieves become delivery riders, gossipers reinvent themselves as news reporters — Deacon Sam starts facing his own internal tug-of-war between faith and temptation. It’s a personal challenge he didn’t expect, and one that adds emotional weight to the laughs.

Sanya Lopez in a daring role
Joining David in this ambitious and offbeat tale is Sanya Lopez. Known for her strong screen presence, Sanya steps into the chaos of Sto. Kristo and adds spark to the film’s ensemble cast. Though much of the spotlight falls on David’s Deacon Sam, Sanya’s role brings an added layer of interest to the story — and their chemistry is one to watch out for as they described during the mediacon.

The Cast
Backing the leads is a colorful cast of characters played by Joel Torre, David Shouder, Soliman Cruz, Betong Sumaya, Buboy Villar, Chariz Solomon, Liezel Lopez, Jade Tecson, Jun Sabayton, Chanty Videla, Jay Ortega, Christian Singsong, Shernan Gaite, Batmanunulat (Jerome Lois Esguerra), Tito Abdul (David Domanais), Tito Marsy (Christian Kimp-Atip), Yian Gabriel, Liana Mae, and young star Euwenn Mikaell.

The film is directed by Benedict Mique, with the screenplay written by Mique and Aya Anunciacion. Both filmmakers bring their sharp humor and thoughtful storytelling to the project, balancing laughter with deeper themes of morality, faith, and personal change.

Save the Date
Samahan ng mga Makasalanan premieres in theaters nationwide on April 19. With its blend of comedy, charm, and a unique take on righteousness, it’s a film that invites both laughs and reflection.
