The Philippines, a nation familiar with the wrath of nature, once again found itself grappling with the aftermath of a devastating typhoon. Typhoon Kristine, a tempest of ferocious intensity, tore through the country, leaving a trail of destruction and heartbreak in its wake. In the face of this tragedy, the BingoPlus Foundation, the charitable arm of DigiPlus Interactive, stepped forward with a resounding message of hope and support.
A Pledge of Support
On November 10th, at the Talisay New Municipal Grounds in Batangas, a ceremony of profound significance unfolded. First Lady Louise “Liza” Araneta-Marcos, Department of Social Welfare and Development Undersecretary Pinky Romualdez, and DigiPlus Chairman Eusebio Tanco, along with a host of local leaders and community members, gathered to provide a lifeline to those shattered by the storm.
With heavy hearts but unwavering resolve, the BingoPlus Foundation formally committed ₱37 million in financial aid to families who lost loved ones to Typhoon Kristine. Each family, burdened by the profound grief of losing a loved one, received at least ₱250,000 – a gesture of compassion and a testament to the Foundation’s dedication to helping Filipinos navigate the difficult path to recovery.
More Than Just Money
“The BingoPlus Foundation is not just about providing financial aid,” stated DigiPlus Chairman Eusebio Tanco. “It’s about offering a beacon of hope, fostering resilience, and creating lasting, positive change within communities.” He emphasized the Foundation’s unwavering belief in giving back generously, extending a hand to those in need, and amplifying goodness whenever possible.
A History of Helping
This substantial financial assistance followed a series of initiatives already undertaken by the BingoPlus Foundation in the wake of Typhoon Kristine. Working closely with the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s National Resource Operations Center (DSWD NROC), the Foundation had already delivered much-needed rice to 750 families. Volunteers were mobilized to assist in repacking and distributing essential supplies to the hardest-hit provinces.
Furthermore, in partnership with ABS-CBN Foundation’s Sagip Kapamilya, the BingoPlus Foundation reached out to 1,000 families affected by the typhoon in Isabela, Aurora, Pangasinan, and Quezon. These swift actions highlight the Foundation’s steadfast commitment to its core principle of resilience, demonstrating its unwavering resolve to make a tangible difference in times of crisis.
A Legacy of Community Building
“The BingoPlus Foundation stands shoulder to shoulder with our communities, offering not just aid, but also resilience, unity, and hope,” Tanco affirmed. “In times like these, our dedication to making a difference burns brighter than ever.”
Since its establishment, the Foundation has invested over ₱100 million in projects across the nation, addressing critical community needs through healthcare, livelihood programs, and educational grants. By collaborating with local and national organizations, the Foundation has established PLUS Centers in Negros, Cebu, and General Santos, serving as resource hubs to empower communities. These centers provide vital resources, including health programs, livelihood support, and skills training, symbolizing the Foundation’s enduring dedication to sustainable community development.
