Amidst the threat of heavy rains and flood warnings, DSV Global Solutions Philippines celebrated the grand opening of its new warehouse facility in Silang, Cavite on October 23. The event marked the culmination of a two-and-a-half-year journey to establish a strategic foothold in the region.

A Vision Realized
Paul Martin Rugman, Managing Director of DSV Global Solutions Philippines, expressed his enthusiasm for the new facility, stating, “Welcome to our new warehouse facility in Silang. It’s with great excitement [that] we welcome you all here today. Thank you for making it out even with the flood warnings. Today really marks the completion of Phase 1 of really looking at a larger strategic expansion. And this will really strengthen our logistics and enhance our abilities to serve our customers, both local and international.”

Rugman acknowledged the dedication and perseverance required to bring the project to fruition. “It’s been quite a journey. It’s taken two and a half years in searching for the right location, getting the securing approvals, getting permits, carefully doing the planning and design, but finally here. So this is really a new high bay warehouse for us, which is really the foundation for a lot broader vision.”
A Decade in the Making
Guillaume Burette, Executive Vice President of DSV Global Solutions APAC, shared his long-held aspirations for DSV’s expansion in the Philippines. “I’ve been waiting for this day for almost 10 years. I came the first time professionally to the Philippines in 2015 when we acquired UTI. And at that time, DSV had no warehouse operation in the Philippines. It’s only when we acquired Agility that we got our real first boost in this amazing country.”

Burette emphasized the company’s strategic focus on consolidation and modernization. “Consolidation of smaller sites is key to our strategy. We want campuses, we want bigger sites, we want multi-customer sites, and we want modern and efficient sites. This is why DSV Silang Warehouse is the perfect fit for this strategy. Another major integration is coming next year with Schenker. It will increase our footprint and our capabilities by a great multiple. We need to come with an open mind to this integration and welcome all our new colleagues. We also need to be very aggressive to optimize our warehouse footprint and consolidate even further.”

A Legacy of Growth

DSV’s journey began modestly in 1976 with ten truckers in Denmark. The company’s presence in the Philippines dates back to 1990 with the establishment of DSV Air and Sea. Since then, DSV has grown through a series of strategic acquisitions, including UTI Global Logistics in 2016, Panalpina in 2019, Agility in 2021, and most recently, DB Schenker in 2024. These acquisitions have enabled DSV to expand its global reach, enhance its service offerings, and solidify its position as a leader in the logistics industry.
Celebrating Success
Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony, employees and guests were given a tour of the new facility.

The event concluded with a festive celebration featuring delicious food and live entertainment by Banda Kawayan Pilipinas (Bamboo Band Philippines). The band’s unique blend of traditional Filipino music and modern arrangements created a lively atmosphere, adding to the celebratory spirit of the occasion.
