The Quizon family has long held a place close to the Filipino masses. The family members are not just beloved entertainers but figures connected to everyday life. Over the years, Eric Quizon has also gravitated toward ventures rooted in daily necessities, from community-centered businesses like Pidol’s bakery, a legacy that reminds us of his father, the late Comedy King Dolphy. It feels fitting, then, that his latest role brings him into another essential space — one that speaks to a basic need shared by every Filipino. That is accessible healthcare.

At 59, the actor-director carries himself with the quiet confidence of someone who has learned to live well with time. One thing we discovered – he takes good care of himself. For Quizon, the answer is less about secrets and more about consistency.

“Honestly, it makes me feel that I need to step up even more. If people look to you for inspiration, you want to stay consistent. And really, it doesn’t take much — even 20 minutes a day can already do a lot for your body,” the actor-director said.

Beyond just an endorseent, he described the partnership as an extension of his personal values, particularly his long-standing belief in health awareness and service.

“For me, it’s really about community service. I’ve always valued health awareness. Growing up, I remember moments with my family that made me realize how important health is. So partnering with a brand connected to wellness and accessibility feels meaningful, it aligns with what I want to promote,” he said.

Quizon formally joined company leaders in opening the JuanMeds Pharmacy branch at Lemon Square along EDSA in Quezon City. The event featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony, blessing, and guided tour of the facility.

Present during the launch were Rico Fernando M. Chico, chairman; Jefferson Catimbang, president and chief executive officer of 88 VIP Ventures Corporation; Coach Erwin Carpena, president and CEO of Motorclyde and owner of JuanMeds Pharmacy; and Marinella Aclan. A representative from PhilHealth also attended, highlighting the agency’s ongoing collaboration with private providers to expand access to affordable medicines through its “Yakap at Gamot Program,” which supports members via accredited pharmacies and healthcare partners.

Positioning itself beyond the traditional drugstore model, JuanMeds introduced what it calls a smart pharmacy ecosystem — a system designed to modernize community pharmacies through automated regulatory compliance, centralized inventory and supply management, and digital ordering integrated with delivery services.

Each JuanMeds branch is envisioned as a neighborhood healthcare hub, offering affordable medicines, support for PhilHealth-backed prescriptions, and wider access through its dedicated mobile app. The goal, company leaders said, is to create reliable, technology-enabled access points that bring essential healthcare closer to communities.

For Quizon, the direction makes sense. If his career has been about staying relevant to the times while remaining grounded in what matters, his move into health advocacy through innovation reflects the same philosophy — meeting people where their real needs are, and helping make everyday essentials more accessible.
