Fifth Solomon’s Summer MMFF entry ‘Single Bells’ draws inspiration from his own experience
Former Pinoy Big Brother housemate and actor-turned-director Fifth Solomon offers a romantic comedy experience targeted to singles with his Summer Metro Manila Film Festival entry “Single Bells.” The film he wrote and directed is top-billed by Fifth’s best friend and fellow PBB celebrity housemate Alex Gonzaga and the Queen of Teleserye Theme Songs Angeline Quinto.
The story, according to Fifth, was inspired by his personal experience of being single.

Single Bells follows the story of Rose Ann and Rose Mae who strike up a friendship in spite of being extreme opposites. Rose Ann swore to forever be single after a called off wedding while Rose Mae is dying to have a boyfriend. In their individual search for destiny, they decided to join the Single Bells organization, a group promoting self-love among singles. This is where things begin to unfold. Simultaneously, things at work (they work together) have major developments as Rose Ann’s ex-fiance (Aljur Abrenica) makes a comeback in her life.
Ria Atayde, one of Fifth’s best friends, joined the private preview last April 1 at Greenbelt Cinema.
In the end, the two are faced with life-changing options. For Rose Ann, it’s either to forgive or be stuck in the past and for Rose Mae, it’s either choosing herself or settling for whoever is there. What choices will they make and will they still be single belles in the end?
Catch the film in cinemas starting today, April 8, as the first ever Summer Metro Manila Film Festival begins.
