Sam Verzosa, the dynamic co-founder of Frontrow and a representative of the Tutok To Win Party-List in the House of Representatives, has always had a knack for connecting with people. His journey from entrepreneur to public servant has only deepened his commitment to uplifting the lives of others. As his birthday approached, Verzosa decided to celebrate in a way that truly reflected his values: by giving back to the community where he grew up.
Verzosa’s pre-birthday event in Pandacan, Manila, was less of a party and more of an extension of his ongoing efforts to make a difference. “It’s not really a celebration or a birthday party,” he explained. “It’s the kind of assistance we’ve been providing for a long time.”
SV has been helping others for over a decade, together with Frontrow Cares, then with the Miss Universe organization, and the Batang Sampaloc Foundation. He shared, “We continue to do so. When there’s a disaster or flooding, Dear SV is there. Our program isn’t just for Manila; it’s for Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. But of course, I can’t forget my fellow citizens here in Manila.”
During the event, people affectionately referred to him as Mayor, sparking speculation about a potential mayoral run. Verzosa, however, remained focused on the present. “There’s no confirmation yet,” he stated.
“Right now, I’m in a position in Congress, still with the Tutok To Win Partylist,” SV continued. “We have Frontrow Cares, we have Dear SV. Almost all the help I provide to our fellow citizens doesn’t favor any particular place. But of course, these are my fellow citizens, I’m from Manila. They ask for help, aid, free medicine, so we bring services to them like our SV Mobile Clinic and SV Mobile Botika.”
How would SV describe his brand of public service? In a mix of Tagalog and English, SV explained, “What I always keep in mind and in my heart is to just do good always. That’s just it. If that’s what you have in your heart and mind, you can never go wrong.”
“Whenever you have a decision to make, is this for the good, is this for the benefit of the majority, you will not lose track. When you make sure you are not after personal gain or corruption, our less fortunate kababayans will be benefit from that,” he smilingly ended his statement.
