From Hardship to Leadership: Filipina and Thai entrepreneurs collaborate for ‘LM Makeup and Skincare’
When women with similar journeys unite, a unique partnership blossoms and something meaningful is crafted. This is the core of the new collaboration between Linda “Lyn” Macanas of the Philippines and Kwan Wannathong of Thailand, who have joined forces to launch LM Makeup and Skincare. Their agreement, finalized on March 8, 2025, during International Women’s Day, marks both a significant business venture and a celebration of their shared values, strength, and determination.

Both Lyn and Kwan’s stories illustrate the power of resilience. Lyn, now a prominent figure in the construction industry, began her life in humble circumstances in Samar, Philippines. “I walked nine kilometers to school. I worked in the fields, cared for animals, and did what I needed to survive,” she recounted. Facing the loss of her mother and limited family support, Lyn financed her education through sheer willpower, eventually establishing a successful construction company. Her entry into the beauty sector was inspired by her daughters, leading her to consider, “Why not create something myself?”

Kwan’s journey mirrors Lyn’s rise from modest beginnings. Prior to becoming CEO of Vega Natural Cosmetics in Thailand, she sold fish balls on the streets of Bangkok. “I lived on a dream and took action to make it real,” she explained. She built her cosmetics manufacturing business by forming strong client relationships. Their shared experiences as women who grew up with simple beginnings but big ambitions formed an instant connection when they met for a business dinner in Thailand.
A Meeting of Minds and Hearts
The connection between Lyn and Kwan extends beyond business. “When we spoke, I felt her strong energy. I was touched by her genuine care for others, which is similar to our values in Thailand. I knew we could achieve success together,” Kwan expressed. This emphasis on shared values and authentic connection is central to their partnership.

Choosing to sign the agreement on International Women’s Day was a deliberate choice, symbolizing the strength of women in business. The signing ceremony, held in Parañaque City, was attended by Kwan’s family, who traveled from Thailand.
Modern Beauty, Thoughtfully Crafted
LM Makeup and Skincare aims to introduce a line of high-quality, accessible beauty products to the Southeast Asian market in 2025. The brand focuses on quality, utilizing skincare innovations from France and Spain, with a specific focus on products suited for the climate and complexions common in the Philippines and the wider region. The initial product line will include soaps, creams, lotions, and serums.
Beyond the Philippine market, LM Makeup and Skincare plans to expand across Southeast Asia, demonstrating their commitment to providing quality beauty products to a wider audience.
Inspiring Future Entrepreneurs
Lyn and Kwan view their collaboration as a chance to inspire other women to pursue their entrepreneurial goals. Lyn offered direct advice: “Everything is possible. You must focus. First, pray. Put the Lord at the center of your life. When you do that, everything will follow.”
Kwan echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and persistence. “This opportunity came at the right moment. We will bring the best products here and beyond. We will succeed together,” she stated confidently.
The launch of LM Makeup and Skincare in 2025 embodies women empowerment, the power of unity, and the potential that is realized when women support each other.
