Last Monday, in an intimate gathering, actress Ana Jalandoni faced the press, together with her legal team and family, to address issues and make clarifications on the ongoing case involving her and ex-boyfriend Kit Thompson. The actress-producer turned emotional as she recounted the details of what she described as a harrowing experience.

With the assistance of her lawyers, Atty. Faye Singson, Atty. Greg Tiongco, and Atty. Walter Baligod, Ana aired her side of the story. Prior to this release, Random Republika reached out to the management of Kit Thompson and is awaiting an updated response or official statement. Ana is co-managed by the same talent management agency.

It can be recalled that following the breaking news of the alleged physical assault between the real-life couple, almost two weeks ago (March 18), Cornerstone Entertainment released this statement:

Reason behind breaking her silence

Faye Singson opened the press conference with a quick speech. “Pinili po niya munang manahimik until the proper time, the proper forum that she would be able to speak.

Atty. Singson then proceeded to presenting the details of the alleged physical assault as narrated to her and the legal team by Ana.

Update from Ana’s lawyers on the cases

“At this point, [there are] two counts of violation of the anti-violation against women and children. That’s Republic Act 9262, Section 5A and 5I. Singson. She then turned over the explanation of other cases they intend to file against Kit to Atty. Walter Baligod.

Atty. And so, kaya po namin na kinailangan i-supplement ang kanyang affidavit at ang police report kasi we are of the impression that aside from VAWC, cases for serious illegal detention and frustrated homicide should likewise be filed. ‘Yun po ang nilalaman nitong supplemental affidavit.”

Cases explained

Atty. Greg Tiongco of Ana’s legal team explained to the media the definition of serious illegal detention as they planning to file it as a case against Kit. He said, “‘Yung serious illegal detention is what we commonly know here as kidnapping. So, napag-alaman natin sa pag-interview kay Ana na matagal-tagal para makuha ‘yung buong detalye na nagkaroon po ng deprivation of liberty. Ibig sabihin, sa duration na nasa Amega Hotel sila, pinagbawalan si Ana na makalabas or makalaya without her consent. This was compounded by violence and threats. Unang-una, I think, it is clear in her sworn statement na sinabi sa kanya, na kung iiwan siya or aalis siya, pinagbantaan sa pagpatay, death threats, so to speak. This was also coupled by not just threats but physical violence. There were numerous times that Ana would like to leave. For one, she was severely injured. Unang-una, mga elemento sa revised penal code natin, kapag ginawa ito sa isang babae, or if nangyari itong insidenteng deprivation of liberty, pinagsama with serious physical injuries, this would compound to serious illegal detention.”
