‘Haplos’ Star Sanya Lopez Touches Young Hearts for Her Birthday

“Danaya! Angela!” Kapuso actress and GMA Artist Center talent Sanya Lopez was called by her popular TV character names as she went around to meet the young patients at the Philippine Orthopedic Center and their caregivers last August 31. The sight of kids who were amazed to see Encantadia’s Sang’gre Danaya right before their very eyes was so heartwarming. Sanya came to the event wearing a simple white shirt, hair tied up in a ponytail and with very little makeup.

It was one of the most touching birthday coverages I’ve had. As I’ve shared in an Instagram post, tears just welled in my eyes as both my hands were busy capturing moments. I saw how a young boy burst into tears when he realized he was seeing Sanya in the flesh. The kid couldn’t move because of a spinal injury so our Haplos star had a selfie with him while he was lying on the bed. He was one of the many kids Sanya personally met and had photos with that day. Our lead actress may not have her character Angela’s healing touch in real life but she surely touched their young lives in a different way. Her power as a celebrity enables her to make these young patients happy in the midst of serious health problems (many of them are injured and recovering in the hospital for months).

The event was hosted by Kapuso comedienne Tess Bomb.
