“The film answers the question kung hanggang saan nation kayang manahimik para sa sarili nating interes o para sa mga inaalagaan nating sikreto?,” Director Shugo Praico introduced what his latest film is all about during the media conference last December 13.

Yes, as viewers, we’re in for a secret in Rein Entertainment’s “Nanahimik Ang Gabi (A Silent Night).” Starring lan Veneracion, Heaven Peralejo, and Mon Confiado, the film is one of the entries in this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival.

“There are three characters in one house. Mysterious ang connections nila,” Director Shugo teased further.

The movie is about two lovers who secretly meet in a secluded mansion. Their passionate night of ilicit affair quickly turned into a nightmare when a mysterious deranged intruder invades their love nest unexpectedly.

This suspense-thriller was written and directed by Shugo Praico who is also the director of the socio-political thriller series, Bagman and the LGBTQ+ series, Betcin who were both recognized in the Asian Academy Creative Awards in 2020 and this year respectively.

“Nanahimik ang Gabi is a cautionary tale about facing the consequences of your choices in life. We are excited for everyone to see this thought-provoking and relevant film especially for the youth today’ said the director. “lan-Heaven is a pairing we’ve never seen before and in characters that we have never seen them play. On the other hand, Mon continues to prove to all of us how good he is at his craft” he added.

Nanahimik Ang Gabi is Rein Entertainment’s first MMFF entry. In July, it was announced that it was among the first four titles selected to participate in the festival along with “Labyu with an Accent’ with Coco Martin and Jodi Sta. Maria, “Partners in Crime” with Vice Ganda and Ivana Alawi, and “The Teacher” with Toni Gonzaga and Joey de Leon.

“Let’s bring back the Christmas Filipino family tradition of watching the MMFF in cinemas. I hope we can all laugh, cry, get scared, and feel inspired through the different movies” said Lino Cayetano, one of the movie producers from Rein Entertainment.
