Jeric Gonzales admits he cannot relate to his new single ‘Hihintayin Kita’ as love has finally arrived for him
Fresh-faced and with a shy smile, Sparkle GMA Artist Center talent and Kapuso actor-singer Jeric Gonzales entertained questions from bloggers during an intimate media conference last March 10. He let us into the details behind his latest single Hihintayin Kita.
Asked how the piece was selected, Jeric told Random Republika how the song was tailormade for his character in an upcoming movie project.
“I was surprised talaga by this song kasi it was composed by Direk Louie Ignacio. He wrote it when we were shooting the film,” Jeric revealed. “Trivia ‘yun. Nagulat ako kasi he was so inspired doon sa film namin na Broken Blooms. While shooting, talagang nagulat ako kay Direk na nagsusulat siya and then after the shoot, on that day noong nasulat niya ‘yun, pinakita nya sa ‘kin yung lyrics and melody.”
Jeric added that he was surprised when informed that he is going to sing the song. “Nagulat ako. And then sabi niya (Direck Louie), ako yung kakanta. Surprised talaga ako and thankful na ako ang napili,” he added.
When asked if he can relate to the melancholic theme of the song, which is about lovingly and patienly waiting for love, Jeric giggled but was quick to answer. He was specifically asked about the state of his heart. To which he replied, “Ahhh, state of my heart. Ahh, actually, hindi [relatable]. Hindi na ako naghihintay, eh.” He laughingly added, “Ayun lang.”
When asked to confirm if he’s happy, Jeric smiled and nodded. The Kapuso heartthrob is currently being linked to Miss Universe Philippines 2020-turned-GMA actress Rabiya Mateo but no confirmation but both of them have been mum about the rumored relationship.
Jeric’s much-awaited film Broken Blooms is set to premiere this coming April. Check out his single “Hihintayin Kita” released under GMA Music and is now available in all digital music platforms.
