Ka Tunying’s YouTube channel ‘Tune In Kay Tunying’ restored after hacking incident
Broadcast journalist and entrepreneur Anthony “Ka Tunying” Taberna’s YouTube channel, “Tune In Kay Tunying,” is back online after being hacked by cryptocurrency proponents. The channel, which boasts nearly 800,000 subscribers, disappeared for five days, causing concern that four years’ worth of content had been permanently lost.
In an official statement, Ka Tunying expressed his gratitude to those who helped recover the channel, particularly a fellow church member who provided technical expertise.
“Masaya ko pong ibinabalita sa aking mga tagasubaybay na nabawi na po natin ang ating Youtube Channel na Tune in Kay Tunying!” Ka Tunying announced. “Noong isang araw po, ito ay nagawang ma-hack (ang tawag ng ibang technical people mula sa Google ay hijacked) na naging dahilan ng ating pangamba dahil nawala po ang ating halos 800 thousand subscribers at mga video uploads mula pa noong 2020.”
The hackers initially replaced the channel’s content with crypto-related material. While Ka Tunying’s technical team managed to regain some control, the channel eventually vanished completely.
Help arrived unexpectedly through a fellow church member, Tintin Albania, who introduced Ka Tunying to Roden Ico, a young man with the technical skills to assist in the recovery effort.
“Agad kumilos si Brother Roden na isa ring maytungkulin sa TSV sa kanilang Lokal sa Central Signal sa Distrito ng Makati at nakipagtulungan sa aming Technical personnel sa pangunguna ni Ka Noel Cebreiros,” the statement explained. “Kaya’t hindi nagtagal, maibabalik na sa ‘himpapawid’ ang Youtube Channel natin na Tune in Kay Tunying!”
Ka Tunying expressed his heartfelt thanks to Ico, whom he has yet to meet in person. “Hindi ko pa nakikilala ng personal si Brother Roden Ico subalit nasasabik ako sa araw ng aming pagkikita upang makapagpasalamat. Isa kang Legend, Brother Roden!”
Beyond the technical recovery, Ka Tunying emphasized the importance of camaraderie and helping others. “Pero ang higit kong nais bigyang diin sa post na ito ay ang kahalagahan ng pag-iibigang magkakapatid, ang kahandaang tumulong sa kapwa kahit hindi pa man hinihiling. Nalaman ko kasi na bago pa ako kontakin ni Ka Tintin Albania ay may message na sa akin si Brother Roden na nag-aalok na baka siya ay makatulong.”
He concluded by highlighting the significance of their shared faith in fostering such acts of kindness. “Kanilang pinatingkad ang doktrina sa Iglesia tungkol sa pag-iibigang magkakapatid. Salamat, Tol!”
