'Kabilang Buhay' by Bandang Lapis climbs up the charts after going viral

With relatable ‘hugot’ themes for their original songs, the band Bandang Lapis is starting to carve their place in the music scene.

The band climbed the streaming charts as their song “Kabilang Buhay” became one of the top songs on YouTube PH, hitting the number 15 spot last week and continues to perform well on the free streaming platform. Meanwhile, the band broke into Spotify’s Viral 50 (Philippines) chart, initially making their debut at number 33 then making the big jump to number 17 just within a week. The song is now nestled at number 2 in the said chart.

The boys behind the hit are singer John Lester Abano, guitarists Lyn Rey Beltran and Mark Jay Nievas, bassist Ryanpaul Marangga, drummer Leanro Rapuno, keyboardist Jomari Gabriel Luna and spoken word specialist-cum-rapper Ivan Arcena Morallos.

The band has worked hard in the live circuit scene before signing a deal with Manila-based entertainment company and label, Viva Records. Since the partnership, the band has been reaching new heights. While live gigs have been put to a halt because of the pandemic, the band continues to rise and gain popularity even virtually. The band is currently doing rounds of promotions to further push their hit song.

LOOK: As of this writing, the views of Bandang Lapis’ Kabilang Buhay music video has already ballooned to 3.8 million views. The band’s Youtube channel also reached more than 100,000 subscribers, making it eligible for the Silver Play Button award.
