Limited Offer: Watch movies for only Php50 via Metro Manila Film Festival’s (MMFF) ‘Sine Sigla sa Singkwenta 50 at 50’
The appeal of the big screen in the Philippines has faced challenges in recent years, with rising ticket costs and the convenience of streaming platforms leading to a decline in cinema attendance. However, a cinematic celebration is on the horizon, promising to reignite the magic of shared movie experiences.

The Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) proudly unveils “SineSigla sa Singkwenta 50 at 50,” a momentous occasion marking its 50th anniversary. This extraordinary event invites movie enthusiasts to relive the golden age of Philippine cinema, showcasing 50 iconic MMFF films from the past half-century on the grand silver screen at an incredibly accessible price of P50.

From September 25 to October 15, a captivating collection of 50 MMFF films will grace selected cinemas nationwide. This diverse selection spans a wide array of genres – drama, comedy, action, horror, romance, adventure, historical, musical, and fantasy – catering to a broad spectrum of audience preferences.
MMDA Acting Chairman and MMFF Overall Concurrent Chairman Atty. Don Artes emphasizes the initiative’s dual purpose: to honor the MMFF’s enduring legacy in the Philippine film industry and to commemorate the remarkable evolution of MMFF films over the years.
“Through the ‘Sine Sigla sa Singkwenta’ screenings, we’re bringing back some of the most cherished MMFF films to the big screen for a mere 50 pesos,” Artes shared during the launch in Makati City. “This allows both new generations and devoted fans to relive the enchantment of these beloved classics.”
Expressing profound gratitude to the film producers for granting the MMFF the privilege of showcasing these timeless films, Artes acknowledges their integral role in shaping the industry’s history. “These films encapsulate the historical, social, and artistic narratives of their respective eras.”
To ensure an optimal viewing experience, several chosen movies have undergone meticulous restoration, quality enhancements, and remastering. Simultaneously, some films retain their original imperfections, adding a touch of nostalgia and authenticity. Conversion processes have been implemented to align with modern cinema requirements, with a few movies undergoing a transformation from film to digital format.
“These screenings are for a limited time only, so seize this opportunity,” Artes urges. “The return of iconic MMFF movies offers the younger generation a chance to discover the cinematic masterpieces of the past. It also reconnects audiences who may have missed these films during their initial releases.”
Artes extends his appreciation to the Cinema Exhibitors Association of the Philippines (CEAP) and cinema operators for their invaluable partnership in this special screening endeavor. Their support, he believes, will significantly contribute to the triumph of MMFF’s 50th celebration, enriching the cinematic experience for all.
Serving as a prelude to the MMFF this December, this initiative aligns seamlessly with the 50th-anniversary celebrations, aiming to entice audiences back to the theaters and rekindle their love for the communal movie-watching experience.
“‘Sine Sigla sa Singkwenta’ epitomizes MMFF’s unwavering dedication to promoting local films,” Artes declares. “The lineup features beloved classics, award-winning masterpieces, and critically acclaimed gems that will transport viewers on a nostalgic journey, potentially evoking cherished memories.”
