Actress Kristine Hermosa continues to charm people with her timeless beauty, even as she steps back from the limelight. Her recent appearance at the Skinlandia skincare launch at Viceroy Residences in McKinley Hill, Taguig City, reminded everyone why she remains a relevant icon in Philippine showbiz.
At 42, Kristine Hermosa radiates the same glow that first mesmerized audiences over two decades ago. She attributes her timeless beauty not to cosmetic procedures but to a life filled with peace, faith, and happiness with her family. “Thank God for that glow,” she said with a gentle smile, acknowledging the natural signs of aging, which she admits can sometimes bring pressure. “Napi-pressure na ako kasi tumatanda na ako,” she shared, adding, “Bawal tumanda. Bawal magka-wrinkles. Thank God for that glow.”
Her break from showbiz was a conscious choice to prioritize her role as a wife to Oyo Sotto and mother to their six children. Although she has made sporadic appearances on television, her primary focus is now on her family. When asked if Oyo is supportive of her return to acting, Hermosa clarified, “Wala naman po talagang problema kay Oyo,” but humorously added, “Ako po ‘yung may problema.”
Hermosa also expressed her sentimental longing for acting, revealing, “Sa totoo, gusto ko rin po talaga. Nami-miss ko po talaga. Pero ‘yung demands po kasi ng teleserye. May anim akong anak. May asawa ako. So, hindi na siya katulad nung dati na any time tawagin nila ako in the middle of the night, puwede nila akong hatakin.” Instead, she mentioned that sitcoms appeal to her because they are lighter and more manageable. “Kung mayroong sitcom, okay naman. Kasi medyo magaan ang sitcom,” she said.
Kristine’s influence still looms large in the industry. When asked about her reputation as a beauty icon and how young artists look up to her and call her “diyosa,” Hermosa acknowledged the pressures of aging with grace. “Napi-pressure na ako kasi tumatanda na ako,” she admitted. “Parang bawal tumanda, bawal magka-wrinkles, pero I’m really flattered. Thank God for that glow.” She shared candidly, “Siyempre, tinitira rin tayo ng hormones natin. Pero ‘yun na nga… I just try my best kung ano ang magagawa ko for myself to be healthy,” emphasizing that peace of mind and faith keep her grounded.
During the event, Hermosa was also vocal about her views on cosmetic procedures. “Non-surgical treatments po ay okay lang sa akin. Pero ‘yung surgical… natatakot po ako kasi baka masobrahan at wala nang bawian,” she explained, highlighting her cautious approach to enhancing her appearance.
Supportive of her natural beauty, actress, Skinlandia endorser, and franchisee’s daughter Jess Martinez, along with founder Noreen Divina, praised Hermosa not just for her external radiance but also for her positive energy and family-centered values. “Hindi lang po physically beautiful si Ms. Kristine. She has so much positive energy,” Martinez shared. “I watched the first episode of ‘House of D’ po, at nakita ko po na sobrang family oriented ni Ms. Kristine, at naka-center siya kay God. I believe those are the factors po kung bakit siya beautiful.”
Jess, in particular, expressed how starstruck she was by Hermosa’s presence at the event. “It’s beyond gratefulness, this time I feel so blessed kasi last year, I was only an ambassador, but now, my mom, she franchised. Sobra ang blessings, tuloy-tuloy talaga. Not only in this field, but also in my career in acting,” Jess shared. She also expressed her excitement about Kristine’s appearance as a guest star at the Skinlandia ribbon-cutting, “Nanginginig nga po ako eh. Malamig ‘yung kamay ko ngayon. Idol po kita (Jess told Kristine), isang karangalan. Sobrang saya na siya talaga.”
When asked how she manages to stay beautiful, Kristine shared how essential it is to have peace in her heart, especially with faith guiding her. “Ang sa akin lang na talagang pilit kong kailangan na nandyan is to have peace sa puso, kumbaga, when God is there kasi, you’ll have joy, you’ll have contentment, you’ll have peace, so kahit medyo may challenges, kapag nandyan si God sa buhay mo, you’ll always go back to him. Siya ‘yung anchor ko, ‘yun lang talaga,” she stated.
Meanwhile, Jess echoed Kristine’s sentiments on positivity and self-care, emphasizing that happiness and a supportive environment contribute significantly to one’s radiance. “Kasi happy ako na I’m surrounded with people that are happy and uplift me. And like I said before, hindi kasi ako nagpapaapekto sa mga negativity kasi I always focus on myself and sa mga taong nagpapasaya sa akin. ‘Yun siguro that’s why it radiates on me,” Jess explained.
Regarding her favorite treatment at Skinlandia, Jess shared, “Siguro ‘yung hydro facial kasi para ma-hydrate ang face kasi parating pagod sa taping.” Kristine, listening to her, added with a smile, “Tatandaan ko ‘yang hydro facial.”
