LOOK: Vivamax star Ayanna Misola kicks off her showbiz rebranding with role in ‘WPS’ advocacy series
During the press conference for the upcoming advocacy series WPS (West Philippine Sea), Viva talent Ayanna Misola expressed joy over bagging a wholesome role, without any hint of a sexy character. “Yung role ko po dito, iba din po sya sa mga napapanood ninyo na sa Vivamax. Isa po ako sa mga defender dito and meron po kaming connection ni Lance [Raymundo]. ‘Yung role ko po is mayaman, medyo of Chinese culture,” she said.

Known as one of well-loved Vivamax stars, Ayanna has starred in numerous adult-themed movies in the streaming platform since the height of the pandemic. Her WPS stint serves as her first project veering away from the sexy image. “I think, ito po ‘yung first project ko na wala talagang sexy role and sobrang nag-the-thank you ako kay Boss Mike [Dr. Michael Aragon] kasi kung hindi dahil sa kanya siguro po, na-lock, nastereotype na ‘ko sa mga sexy roles.”

Ayanna explained Doc Mike’s part in her change of image. “Siya po ‘yung nagbigay sa ‘kin ng opportunity para maipakita ko po ‘yung sarili ko dito sa bagong branding. Masaya rin po kasi dati ko pa po gusto na maging famous sa maayos na way. ‘Yung may impact talaga para sa mga kaedad ko,” the actress said. Her co-stars and members of the press applauded.
When asked by Random Republika if this signals the end of her sexy star journey, Ayanna explained, “Siguro hindi na po mawawala sa image ko ‘yung sexy.” An obviously supportive co-star and dad to a former Vivamax star AJ Raval, Jeric Raval, chimed in, “Kasi sexy ka!”
“Opo, kasi sexy talaga ako naturally. Char!,” Ayanna jokingly said. “Pero ‘yung nude, hindi na po siguro.”
Dr. Michael Raymond Aragon, the producer, and chairman of the Kapisanan ng Mga Social Media Broadcasters sa Pilipinas Inc. (KSMBPI), was part of the group which filed charges against some media personalities like Vice Ganda and Toni Fowler. Last year, KSMBPI filed criminal cases against Ayanna and her fellow Vivamax stars AJ Raval and Azi Acosta for alleged violation of the cybercrime law, citing the actresses’ “obscene publication.” After talks with Viva (Ayanna, AJ, and Azi’s talent agency), a partnership has been built. This was already after the case was won by the talent agency.
Ayanna went on to express her appreciation over Doc Mike’s switch of roles in her life after the filed charges were dropped. “Si Boss Mike din po ‘yung nagbigay ng opportunity sa’min para ipakita na kaya naming mag-change image,” she said. “And also, kasi nga po, gusto ko po talagang maging good influence sa generation natin ngayon. Hindi lang basta sikat sa social media, gusto ko rin ‘yung may impact for future generations din.”
Doc Mike, in turn, showed appreciation for Ayanna and her fellow artists starring in the series that aims to present the real situation concerning the ownership of the West Philippine Sea. Through fictional characters, the series aims to debunk fake news propagated nationwide and. Globally as things heat up between the Philippines and China. The passionate producer firmly and strongly believes that the West Philippine Sea belongs to the Philippines and this project is his artistic form of armor.

In pursuing his advocacy, Doc Mike acknowledged the participation of the actors in making the project a reality. He proudly announced, “Ang mga talents na ‘to, hindi ko binabayaran ng TF (talent fee) ha. Libre ito. Even Viva is not getting any manager’s commission. Tulong ito. Ang nabibigay lang namin sa kanila ay honorarium [for food, transportation, and basic expenses].
Before asking for the press to give the stars a round of applause, Doc Mike said, “The people here in front of you are real heroes, bayani sila. Maraming mga artista, gumagawa ng projects pero unang tanong, ‘Magkano TF ko d’yan?’ Ito, wala. Nang sinabi ko sa kanila na ito ang problema, naintindihan nila. And they’re here in front of me.”
Topbilled by AJ Raval and Aljur Abrenica, the series stars Mossimo Scofield, Ali Forbes, Jerica Madrigal, Lala Vinzon, Roi Vinzon, Rannie Raymundo, Jeric Raval, Daiana Menezes, and Lance Raymundo. Taping is set to start on October 1 and more details about this action-advocacy series will be announced soon. Direction will be under Karlo Montero.
