Lovi Poe joins showbiz icons Bobot, Boyet, and Pip in ‘Some Kind of Valentine’ concert
“Siya talaga ang number one nila from a list of 50 down to the final Top 7. Kaya I can promise that we’re going to give you a show na hindi basta basta,” Flor Santos, head of Dreamwings Production revealed that Lovi Poe was handpicked to join local entertainment icons in a Valentine concert.
The bankable actress and singer Lovi was flattered upon hearing the story. She is set to perform at the Resorts World Manila on February 3 and 4 with Christopher De Leon, Edgar “Bobot” Mortiz, and Tirso Cruz III.
“Yung songs na napili nilang kantahin, talagang ever since, I’ve been listening to that kind of music,” Lovi revealed. While it may seem that the lineup of senior performers is oddly combined with Lovi, the group is set to surprise everyone. The actress-singer has production numbers prepared with “Boyet,” “Bobot,” and “Pip.”
“Mag-eenjoy kayo dahil nandito si Lovi, tapos yung fans namin, siguro madami pa sila o yung iba, huhukayin namin para mapanood yung show. I’m sure, mag-e-enjoy sila. ‘Yung klase ng songs na kinakanta namin, bagay na bagay kay Lovi. Siguro nung sumikat ang mga kantang ito, wala pa siya sa mundo. Pero kapag kinakanta niya, ang tingin ko, bagay na bagay pala sa kanya, so natutuwa ako,” Edgar said.
It was revealed Direk Bobot, as he is fondly called, last appeared in a Valentine show three decades ago. He and his fellow “Bad Bananas” were there when Pops Fernandez and Zsa Zsa Padilla were launched as singers.
