Marco Gumabao clarifies relationship status with Ivana Alawi: ‘We’re just friends’
Finally, in today’s press conference for his upcoming movie, Marco Gumabao directly addressed the rumors linking him to actress-vlogger Ivana Alawi. The two have been the subject of speculations after a video showing them in what seems like a videoke session among friends went viral. In the said video, Marco’s hand is seen comfortably placed on Ivana’s thigh.
“Basically, kami ni Ivana, we’ve been friends for more than a year. Magbarkada po talaga kami and at the same time, we really are close, but we’re just friends,” Marco revealed today after PTV4’s Rise and Shine reporter Aina Medina asked him about the video.
After keeping mum and being vague during the ‘Di Na Muli presscon earlier this month, Marco became specific this time, “I know na maraming naintriga sa video pero magkakaibigan lang po talaga kami.”
VIVA’s TV and movie leading man also clarified that some news reports claiming that he’s inspired by Ivana based on the past presscon had false headlines. Marco said, “It doesn’t mean that when you say you’re inspired it’s always just because of one person. Inspired ako in general. I’m a very optimistic person.”
Marco is currently one of the lead stars of Viva’s November offering, romantic drama movie My Husband, My Lover. Joining him in the cast are Kylie Verzosa, Cindy Miranda, and Adrian Alandy.

Noel has settled in a new relationship with a lawyer named Loida (Cindy Miranda), and Dennis is playing the role of a good husband and father to Alice and her son, even if they found out via DNA test that the kid is Noel’s. The kid suffers from a disease and dies pushing Alice to tell Noel the truth.
This meeting ends in a passionate sex between the legally married couple, who are both committed to their respective partners. The tables have turned and Noel is now the kept man. And things get more complicated when their partners enter the scene to claim what they believe are theirs.T
This project is the latest movie by director McArthur C. Alejandre, the director behind blockbuster adult dramas like The Annulment and In Your Eyes and the high-rating TV series Endless Love, Stairway to Heaven and Marimar. This is also the second time for Kylie Verzosa and Marco Gumabao to work together on a project.
