MRLD unveils ‘7th Sense’: A deep dive into unspoken feelings
MRLD, the singer-songwriter behind hits like “Ligaya,” “Sandali,” “Ikaw Pa Rin,” and “An Art Gallery Could Never Be As Unique As You,” has released her debut album, “7th Sense.” The album, a collection of both familiar and new tracks, spans diverse genres, promising to connect with listeners on a personal level. “This album serves as patikim lang with what I can show sa mga tao,” MRLD states, offering a glimpse into her artistic range.
The Genesis of “7th Sense”
The album’s title, “7th Sense,” reflects MRLD’s exploration of emotions beyond the traditional five senses. “It’s entitled 7th Sense kasi if I’m not mistaken there are six senses, and kumbaga itong album na to, these are feelings na hindi ko kayang sabihin in direct words. This is my 7th Sense. Baka seventh sense din siya ng ibang tao kasi these are yung situations na pinagdaanan ko sa buhay ko,” she explains. Initially, she planned an English-language album, but found herself drawn to the raw honesty of “7th Sense.” “However she said that before she made this album, she was planning to release a full length English album but she feels like there is no spark yet and she is not ready for this set of tracks.” She felt the need to push forward with this current project.

“7th Sense” features eight tracks: “Dear You,” “Lihim,” “Malayo,” “Ikaw Pa Rin,” “Opposites,” “M.I.N.O.Y,” “Sagot,” “Sandali,” and the lead single, “Hanggang sa Magsawa.” Each song offers a unique perspective, drawing from MRLD’s personal experiences and emotional landscape.
Lead Single: “Hanggang sa Magsawa” – A Raw Emotional Outpouring
The lead single, “Hanggang sa Magsawa,” holds a special place in MRLD’s heart. “I wrote this two years ago, sobrang sakit lang ng kanta pati ako iniyakan ko yung kanta na yun, my parents they cried sa song na yun,” she reveals. This track, her longest single to date, encapsulates raw emotion and vulnerability.
“Ikaw Pa Rin”: A Fan’s Perspective
MRLD, a self-proclaimed K-pop enthusiast, drew inspiration from her fandom for “Ikaw Pa Rin.” “This song was purely about a delusional fan, kumbaga may pagka delusional talaga ako. The song runs na kahit hindi ako pinipili, pipiliin pa rin kita kasi as a fan, nakikita ko po talaga yung how my idols work around with their life kumbaga I’m just a fan,” she shares, offering a relatable glimpse into the passionate world of fandom.
“Dear You”: A Tribute to Motherhood
“Dear You” is a heartfelt dedication to MRLD’s mother. “Before nung kinukwento ko pa po sakanya or pinaparinig ko po yung demo, naiiyak po talaga ako kasi first time ko po talaga magsulat ng hindi na about love, I mean it’s about love but it’s different from your parents.. it’s just about me thanking my mom, she was there for me all throughout,” she says. This track showcases a different side of MRLD’s songwriting, focusing on familial love and gratitude.
