Jon’s girlfriend, Susan, is a ballet teacher with upperclass yet talentless clients. She suggests starting a family with Jon and pursuing a career outside New York.

Jon’s best friend, Michael, is a marketing research executive who used to dream of becoming an actor. He suggests that Jon works with him in his firm for a more stable and secure career.
