Filipinos have long been known for their love of romance — stories of love, heartbreak, and sacrifice consistently draw viewers to theaters. But just as strong is the country’s appetite for fear. Horror has always held a firm place in Filipino entertainment, with a lot of top-grossers during film festivals coming from the fear-inducing category.

This summer, GMA Pictures and Mentorque Productions bring a terrifying new Filipino horror experience to the big screen with Huwag Kang Titingin, a chilling story that combines modern internet culture with deep-rooted folklore.

From the producers of the box-office films KMJS’ Gabi ng Lagim The Movie and Mallari, the film opens in theaters nationwide on April 15 and delivers a Gen Z horror tale filled with jump scares, mystery, and emotional depth.

In an age where viral challenges dominate social media, Huwag Kang Titingin explores the scary consequences of curiosity taken too far. An old ritual meant to communicate with the dead resurfaces online and becomes a viral video challenge. But those who attempt it unknowingly awaken something far more sinister—an entity that feeds on the souls of the living.

The story unfolds in San Antonio, a remote town steeped in eerie traditions, candlelit rituals, and an old rest house surrounded by shadows and buried memories—where every mirror, flickering light, and dark corner may become a doorway for something waiting to be seen.

Leading the film is Sofia Pablo as Selene, the quiet and responsible sister burdened by guilt and the need to protect her younger brother. As the terrifying events unfold, Selene is forced to confront long-hidden truths and face the cost of silence.

Allen Ansay co-stars as Badong, the reserved kasambahay who keeps to himself but carries unsettling knowledge he refuses to reveal.

Joining the ensemble are Marco Masa as Brian, Charlie Fleming as Kira, Michael Sager as Benj, Kira Balinger as Liza, Josh Ford as Onat, Sean Lucas as A-jay, Anthony Constantino as Migz, with the special participation of Shuvee Etrata as Diane.

Completing the cast are Lui Manansala, Sherilyn Reyes, Alchris Galura, Michael Flores, Bernadette Allyson, David Domanais, and Christian Kimp Atip.

Leading the terror is the “Umaaaligid,” a malevolent entity born from ritual, pain, and unfinished vengeance. It does not kill quickly — it stalks its victims, creeping into dreams and dragging them slowly into its nightmare.

Steering the wheel is director Frasco Mortiz alongside creative producer and screenwriter Ays De Guzman, the team behind the box-office teen horror hit Pagpag: Siyam na Buhay.

With its mix of supernatural terror, viral culture, and emotional storytelling, Huwag Kang Titingin aims to give a fresh Filipino horror experience that feels both modern and rooted in tradition.

Produced by GMA Pictures and Mentorque Productions, Huwag Kang Titingin opens in theaters beginning April 15.
