A new group is making waves in the Filipino music scene, and their story is as inspiring as their sound. VVINK, pronounced “Wink,” is a five-member girl group launched by FlipMusic Productions. Their debut almost two weeks ago at Club Hype in Quezon City marked the start of what promises to be an exciting chapter for Filipino pop.

A Name with Meaning
The name VVINK isn’t just a catchy title—it stands for two victories. According to FlipMusic CEO Jeli Mateo, “The two v’s in VVINK stands for two victories. One victory from their past, and one they are working toward in the future.” This isn’t about fairy tales or starry-eyed dreams but about real-life resilience. “These girls are ‘contesteras’—they’ve competed in many contests and have come close to winning, but it took time before they finally got that big break,” Mateo shared.

The Members’ Unique Journeys
VVINK consists of Angelika, Jean, Ayaka, Odri, and Marie. They’re all young women between 17 and 22, many of whom have already left their mark in local music. Angelika co-wrote “Pantropiko,” a hit performed by Bini, one of the leading groups in P-pop. Marie has songwriting credits for Calista’s “AlasGoce.” Before becoming a group, each member was introduced separately through “VVINK: The Pre-Debut Album,” a bold move that allowed fans to get to know each artist on her own.

Emphasizing Individuality
Bojam de Belen, FlipMusic’s COO, explained, “We’ve always supported solo acts. So we wanted to honor each girl’s individual journey. That’s why they each released two solo songs before becoming a group.” This approach created a variety of sounds and personalities that now combine in their first single, “Tulala”—a cheerful, smooth track about the strange feelings of falling in love. It’s just the beginning, with plans for seven original songs through 2026, including titles like “Tatlong Hiling” and “Ikaw Lang Ang Kulang.”

A Fresh Start in P-pop
Mirror groups like Bini have already helped put Filipino pop on the global map, and FlipMusic is excited to have VVINK be a part of this movement. Mateo mentioned, “We admire Bini, and it’s flattering to be compared. But we hope VVINK stands on their own.” Bojam added, “Sana po hindi sila ma-compare. Let’s give them a fair shot. It’s only been a month since their debut, but they’re hungry and eager to learn.”
Training for Success
Before stepping into the spotlight, the girls spent two years honing their skills in singing and dancing. The training was all done locally, reflecting FlipMusic’s commitment to supporting Filipino talent and building opportunities at home.

More Than Just Music
VVINK isn’t just about producing hits—it’s about telling stories and sharing feelings through music. Their backgrounds, marked by near misses and efforts, add to their genuine connection with audiences. They are not coming in to outshine anyone but to be true to themselves and their songs.
A Group Built on Hope
VVINK stands for more than just their name. Their logo, with the mirrored Vs, resembles a “W,” representing their wins from perseverance and growth. It highlights their journey of overcoming setbacks and moving forward.
The Road Ahead

Their debut single, “Tulala,” captures the essence of young love—hopeful and straightforward. The group’s schedule also includes upcoming tracks like “Alamin” and “Talong Emosyon,” set to be released from late 2025 into mid-2026.
