It was a fun and inspiring experience to be a part of this year’s Nuffnang’s Blogopolis with the theme, Shifting Gears at the Dusit Thani Hotel in Makati City. The event started at 1PM and ended past 7 but spending almost the whole day in the area was well worth it. I went home inspired and informed. 🙂
I’ll give you a visual storytelling of what happened.

Globe had a candy buffet! And each color/flavor had a symbol for technological icons like mail, music, Facebook, Twitter, etc. 🙂

The whole setup was minimalist and classic. 🙂 I’m glad they veered away from the usual event setups where logos of advertisers are everywhere. 🙂

Travel blogger Ivan Henares talked about how blogging and social media help in preserving and taking part in caring for our country’s heritage, culture, and tourism.

Senator Bam Aquino shared how social media plays an important role in disseminating relevant news and information. It was funny how he shared that a photo of his newly born son garnered so much more likes than his socio-political updates. 🙂

One of my favorite speakers, Gang Badoy-Capati. She shared her citizen journalism during Jun Lozada’s expose. She was funny for the most part of the talk and yet she made sure she sent her important message across.

I was so engrossed when these girls from Pepper.ph gave their talk that I failed to take a proper photo. Hehe. It’s cool how their relatively new blog has been recognized by Google as the country’s best food blog.

Yugatech owner and Nuffnang Country Manager Abe Olandres talked about his blog’s strategies in expanding content and increasing traffic. Super inspiring.

Pinoy Fitness blogger Jeff Lo proves that going beyond online like his blog-related events expanded his audience. 🙂 He’s also proof that passion and purpose are crucial in a blog’s success.

I was also too attentive to Michael Josh Villanueva and Jackie Go that I failed to take photos during their talks. Michael Josh quit his job as a tech journalist to become a full-time Youtuber while Jackie Go is an active mommy blogger.

Theater guy Joaquin Valdes talked about how “going back to basics” is the strategy he and his team behind Berto in Brogues is using. 🙂

Power couple Tippy and Pong Go of Googly Gooeys discussed how they reached the international audience with their web comic blog. 🙂

Revo Naval, a creative director-turned-marketing manager, discussed craftmanship in today’s communication. He talked about the shift of communication platforms and shared his bus project – a bus that served as a store and a concert stage to reach his young target market.

OPM icon and APO member Jim Paredes (also an author, host, college professor, and social media influencer) talked about accessibility being just a tap away.

Globe’s Jocel De Guzman discussed the changes in technology and how it is intertwined with our daily lives. He posed a challenge to blogger participants to write an entry about their individual digital lifestyles and the best one will win an iPhone 6+.

Rappler’s Stacy De Jesus shared the challenge of working for social media and news. She also included how social media took a significant role during major events like the Pope visit.

ABS-CBN and ANC anchor Tony Velasquez talked about the political participation through social media. 🙂
