Gone are the days when beauty pageants and dance contests were the focus of noontime shows. Our top ones in the country now are maximizing the massive support they get for producing loveteam-seryes. Eat Bulaga has AlDub (Alden Richards and ‘Yaya Dub’ Maine Mendoza) to boast from its Kalye Serye (Juan For All, All for Juan segment) and It’s Showtime just launched its VanTillas (Evan Vergogna and ‘Ms. Pastillas’ Angelica Jane Yap) pairing which is also raking in support from fans worldwide.
We get numerous messages about the resemblance between the first meetings of the said loveteams. Fans’ comments convey mixed reactions. Some are annoyed by what seems to be a copy of the one that came first while others think it’s a common thing done between rivals. While others dislike (and express utter disgust) the idea of having almost the same concept of witnessing raw emotions between loveteams, others feel that replicating the idea and tweaking it is no big deal. As what an opinionated viewer told us, “It’s all about what sells at the end of the day. You will go for what will save your business.” There are also those who don’t seem to care. For these commenters, it doesn’t matter who started the trend. As long as they get entertained, the issue of originality is the least of their concerns. Many of them remind the fans to just stick to the loveateam they support.
