This Halloween, get ready for a spine-tingling experience as rising multimedia star Shanaia Gomez faces the terrifying unknown in the new iWantTFC Original horror film “The Gatekeeper,” premiering October 19.

From the minds behind the acclaimed historical biopic “Quezon’s Game,” “The Gatekeeper” plunges into a world where demonic forces collide with Filipino folklore. Shanaia portrays Cita, an antique dealer whose discovery of a peculiar cabinet unlocks a horrifying gateway to the underworld, leaving her to navigate the terrifying consequences.

During the film’s unveiling, Shanaia admitted that venturing into the horror genre was unexpected in her flourishing career. Despite this, she’s thrilled for audiences to witness the film and is open to embracing more diverse roles in the future.

“I remember that if there was a genre I did not think I was able to do, it was horror. Suddenly, this opportunity came and I told myself to do my best. I discovered so much about myself making this movie. I am excited to take on other roles and genres,” Shanaia stated.

Before her breakthrough as an actress, Shanaia first showcased her singing talent in the inaugural season of “Idol Philippines” and later became a familiar face as a housemate in “Pinoy Big Brother Kumunity Season 10.”

She has also appeared in various Kapamilya series, including “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo,” “Can’t Buy Me Love,” and the iWantTFC Original “He’s Into Her.” Her diverse portfolio also includes a theatrical role in “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” and a part in the record-breaking Filipino film “Rewind.” In addition to her acting pursuits, Shanaia is making waves in the music scene with her recent single “Cloud 9” under Star Music.

The film’s creators praised Shanaia’s captivating performance as the lead in “The Gatekeeper.”

“We are in awe of her acting ability, her acting decisions, and her patience to achieve perfection. She brings something special to the character of Cita making it very believable and will resonate with audiences,” shared Matthew Rosen, one of the film’s directors.

With the iWantTFC Original approaching its October release, the directors are excited for its premiere and what lies beyond its chilling scenes.

“I hope it takes the audience on the same journey of thought-provoking discovery and unsettling fear to search for answers to clarify what Cita uncovers. There are many things to fear in this movie. But what we should fear most is that it could all be true,” Matthew revealed.

“The Gatekeeper is as much a mystery movie as a horror movie. It combines mysteries from biblical times with mysteries from Filipino history, and by the end, it offers an answer to them all,” added Dean Rosen, the other director.
