Exciting times ahead for moviegoers this 2026!
After days of fan speculation, Unkabogable Superstar Vice Ganda and Bossing Vic Sotto are officially sharing the big screen for the first time in The Greatest Showdown, a comedy directed by Jun Robles Lana that is slated to arrive in cinemas in 2026.
The project was unveiled through a joint announcement featuring the two comedy heavyweights, who expressed their excitement about finally working together on a film that promises plenty of laughs for Filipino audiences.
“Kailangan naming magsanib-puwersa para ibigay ang tawa, halakhak, at kaligayahan na kailangan ng mga Pilipino. Hardcore, todo-comedy ang gagawin naming dalawa,” Vice said.
Describing the collaboration as something that had been years in the making, Vice added, “Minsan lang ’to mangyayari at gusto mangyari ’to noon pa man. Sa ngayon, nagtagpo na kami.” The comedy star and noontime host added, “Hindi lang una at huling beses niyo kami makikita dahil mapapanood ninyo kaming magkasama sa isang pelikula.”
Vic, meanwhile, said the film goes beyond comedy, expressing hope that viewers will be both entertained and inspired.
“Ang pelikulang ito ay magbibigay-ligaya sa taumbayan. Magpapasaya tayo at magpapatawa tayo,” he said. “Sinisiguro rin namin na marami kayong mapupulot na aral.”
Keeping the mood playful, Vic added, “Kailangan natin ngumiti. Kailangan gumanda ang ating aura, kasing ganda ni Vice Ganda. Kailangan naming magsanib-puwersa para ibigay ang kaligayahang kailangan ng mga Pilipino.”
The Greatest Showdown is a co-production of ABS-CBN Studios, Star Cinema, The IdeaFirst Company, M-Zet Productions, and APT Entertainment. The film was officially introduced as part of the first batch of entries for the 52nd MMFF during the festival’s kickoff event held on July 7 at GH Mall in San Juan City.
