A new game player is making its mark in the country’s digital entertainment space. Star Sinemax has officially launched its streaming platform, offering viewers around the world access to a growing selection of films and exclusive productions. Designed to give storytellers a broader stage, the service aims to bring Filipino-made content to more audiences across different markets.
Star Sinemax positions itself as a platform where filmmakers, producers, and creators can share stories that cross borders and connect with viewers through meaningful entertainment.
During the platform’s launch, Star Sinemax President and CEO Ery Gushi reflected on how the project began as a vision in November 2024.
“Simple lang po ang vision namin. It was 2 years ago, November 2024. Star Sinemax is a platform where great stories can be told, where talented artists can shine and where audiences can enjoy both meaningful entertainment anywhere anytime. And tonight, the vision officially comes to life.”
She added that while numerous streaming platforms already exist, Star Sinemax aims to distinguish itself through bold and fearless storytelling.
“Alam po nating lahat na maraming streaming platform now but what makes Star Sinemax different is our fearless storytelling and to challenge people’s perspective through the power of cinema. The exciting part is giving opportunities to producers, directors, artists, writers to show their hidden talents globally.”
Star Sinemax board member Dr. Dang Sevilla echoed the same commitment, saying the platform represents more than a business venture.
“Tonight is a dream come true for me because behind every investment is a dream and behind every number is a vision. Behind Star Sinemax is a dream to create opportunities, tell meaningful stories, and build a platform that celebrates creativity and talent. This is more than just a business launch, it’s the beginning of a journey to connect storytellers with audiences and bring entertainment right to your fingertips.”
She also acknowledged the work that went into bringing the platform to life.
“Building a streaming platform is not easy. It requires faith, commitment and courage to believe in something bigger than ourselves… Star Sinemax is more than just a streaming service. It’s a community, a place for creators and viewers to connect, share stories and discover new favorites.”
Subscribers can expect a wide variety of entertainment, from drama and romance to horror, comedy, and other genres that cater to different viewing preferences. Like other local streaming services, Star Sinemax features both general audience offerings and films intended for mature viewers.
The platform also brings together a lineup of familiar names in Philippine entertainment, including AiAi delas Alas, Mark Herras, Jeric Gonzales, Herlene Budol, Boobay, Mon Confiado, Yasser Marta, and Arnell Ignacio.
As part of its official launch, Star Sinemax unveiled an extensive slate of upcoming releases across several genres.
Sexy/Mature: Dalisay, Piring, Sadista, Lihim ni Fiona, Sariwa, Liwaliw, Hayok, Humaling.
LGBTQ+: White Prince, Shared Moments, The Sign, Stepmother, GL Forever, Ari and Janna, The Gap, By Some Miracle.
Wholesome/General Audience: Guardian Baby, Haunted Bride, Justice of Love, Oni, Kiss of An Angel, Budoleras, The Invitation, Worlds Apart, Mudra Bampira.
Speaking about the platform’s long-term mission, Sevilla said Star Sinemax hopes to become a home for emerging creatives.
“What excites me about Star Sinemax is not just the movies that we will produce and release. It is the opportunities that we can create for creators, filmmakers, writers, producers and storytellers who deserve to have their voices first. Leading the platform’s first wave of releases are Portrait of Us and My Guardian Baby, both of which premiered on June 26 and marked the beginning of Star Sinemax’s expanding content library.
Closing the launch, Gushi thanked everyone who helped turn the platform into reality and assured viewers that Star Sinemax will continue pushing creative boundaries.
