Even as inflation affects spending habits and consumers become more selective about where their money goes, two industries continue to thrive — food and beauty. Both offer something powerful in trying times — instant gratification. A good meal or a fresh salon visit offers an emotional boost.

In the beauty scene, this appeal goes even deeper. A haircut, a color retouch, and a polished set of nails provide visible results that boost confidence instantly. In a highly stressful world, these small transformations have turned into a form of self-care. They are “practical” indulgences that help people feel put-together, in control, and ready to face the day (or the year!).

It is certainly because of this that Couture Studio Hair and Nails in Bonifacio Global City reached its first year of success.

Glow-ups in BGC

Couture Studio recently celebrated its anniversary with “The Art of Hair & Nails,” an exclusive event that welcomed guests for an afternoon of indulgence and self-care. Located on the second floor of the B2 Building along Bonifacio High Street, the salon has established a reputation for making people look and feel more beautiful.

European philosophy

At the core of Couture Studio’s service is master stylist Pascalain Gianello, whose career was shaped by heavy training in France and years working within the Vidal Sassoon system in London.

“I started as a normal hairdresser,” Pascalain shares. “In Europe, there’s an apprenticeship and different levels of schools. I trained for four years in France, and after that, I went to London and worked with Vidal Sassoon, from junior stylist to art director.”

The Sassoon philosophy, he explains, transformed hairstyling by introducing precision and geometry. Its cuts were designed to move naturally while complementing the face.

“The idea is beautiful hair that is perfectly cut, well-balanced, and suitable for the person. It’s not cutting by feeling or guessing. It has to look very good and stay easy to manage for four to six weeks,” the proud hairstylist shared.

Despite a career that could have taken him anywhere, Pascalain chose to build his life and work in the Philippines for a personal reason. “My wife is Filipino. She wanted to be here, and I’m doing well in this country. So I’m here – Pinoy din ako. A French Pinoy,” he explained.

Specialized space

What sets Couture Studio apart, according to Pascalain, is its environment and pace.

“First of all, it’s very beautiful, very clean, and there’s a lot of light. People can relax here and feel they are in the hands of professionals. I take time to do everything well. I want to make sure that what we do is really perfect,” the master cutter said. That commitment shows in the salon’s atmosphere. The space gives off a vibe of balance between sophistication and comfort. Clients are encouraged to slow down, settle in, and trust that every detail is handled with care.

One-stop shop

Aside from haircuts and precision styling, Couture Studio offers a full menu of services for pampering. Services include hair color, treatments, manicures, pedicures, lash services, waxing, and even drip therapies.

The salon also provides nail services for children and maintains a pet-friendly policy, creating a space that feels inclusive and relaxed for clients of all lifestyles.

The anniversary event showcased creativity with professional models and hosts Su Jin Kim and Ashley Kim guiding the program. Guests explored new styles, discovered trends, and experienced the salon’s services firsthand.

The celebration highlighted what Couture Studio has always envisioned — a place where skill meets style. Couture Studio’s first anniversary reflects a shift in how people view self-care. Self-care, these days, may be considered a luxury. But it is also a wise investment.
