I have to admit, some fantasy-themed romantic movies made me want to roll my eyes or shake my head in the past. So, when I sat down to watch My Future You at the premiere night, I managed my expectations. I expected a cheesy, predictable plot. But let me happily share, this movie by Regal Entertainment is a welcome surprise this MMFF 2024. Wholesome and family-friendly, it blew me away and I loved so many aspects of it.
FranSeth: Match made on the big screen
First off, the casting was spot-on. Francine Diaz and Seth Fedelin (a.k.a. FranSeth) were endearing and effective in their roles. Francine was so natural, you would feel like you were watching your best friend fall in love. And Seth? He’s come a long way! His performance was powerful and moving, and you could tell he poured his heart into the role. Even the smaller roles were perfectly cast – the young actress who played young Francine (Ryrie Sophia) was adorable, and the actors who played her parents, Almira Muhlach and Christian Vasquez, had chemistry with Francine.
REAL-ationships: What truly matter
This movie isn’t just about romance. It’s about a love story tackling things that really matter: family, relationships, and patience. It reminds you that sometimes, the best things in life are worth waiting for. And no matter what crazy stuff happens, the love of your family will always be there.
I was worried that the whole time gap would be confusing or just plain ridiculous. But honestly, the way they did it was clever and believable. The music and the editing were perfect, and there were these moments – especially when the characters realized they were from different times – that gave me goosebumbs.
More than just a Christmas movie
Sure, “My Future You” is a great Christmas movie. It’s funny, heartwarming, full of important lessons about life and love, and most of all kilig-infused.
A Must-Watch this Christmas
I’ve covered presscons with Francine and Seth for years now, and it’s been amazing to watch them grow as actors. Their chemistry is off the charts this time, and they brought this story to life. With its feel-good and heartwarming content, don’t miss My Future You this Christmas. Go see it with your family, your friends, or even by yourself. Be prepared to laugh, cry, and feel all the feels this Christmas!
