According to business partner Ian Ignacio, an action star turned entrepreneur, “When we first talked to Katy [Meistra], the knowledge that she has from her past experience in this field gave us a lot of confidence that now is a great time to open a clinic here in Makati.”

Dermeistra is led by licensed medical aesthetician Katy Meistra, the face behind the brand. The name itself plays on the word maestra – Spanish for female master or teacher. This reflects the clinic’s commitment to expertise and precision.

For Katy, the clinic’s edge lies in one essential factor — quality. “It’s the quality of the service. More likely, there are so many aesthetic clinics. It’s become like a salon now. Hindi tayo papahuli sa other countries who have a lot of aesthetic clinics like Korea and Thailand. So here in the Philippines, it’s becoming like that. And our advantage would be the quality of the service. It would be affordable but the quality is good. That would be the difference,” she said.
Beyond accessibility, she emphasized customization as the core of her practice. Katy said, “I really like to combine one of my treatments, especially for each client. Because I have different skin types. So, you know, I might combine or I might just do the specific type of treatment.”

So kami lang yung magkakaroon ng sea moss product from all over the clinics here in the Philippines. That will be our signature product — the sea moss. There will be skincare made of the sea moss, and also a drink that energizes your body, hydrates your body. And if your body is hydrated, the skin glows at the same time.”
Ian added that the drink is already available through a special partnership. “The drink is already on the market. We’re doing a collaboration, a special collaboration, an exclusive collaboration with EPIQ. It’s an Irish sea moss that has seven of the essential minerals that our body needs.”
He explained the science behind it, “When they say you look dehydrated, the number one thing is to drink water. But water is just H2O. Our body needs minerals to heal, to grow, and to fully function. It’s extracted from Irish sea moss harvested in the Caribbean, shipped here, and cold-extracted by EPIQ. We’re lucky enough to have this collaboration.”
