As a viewer, I saw a sincere portrayal and depiction of real-life situations. This authenticity was particularly striking during a part of the show that drew a major reaction from the crowd, echoing information I had learned from one of the couple’s intimate interviews online.
References to ’80s and ’90s pop culture icons and experiences became a source of laughter and relatability for audience members likely of the same age as Ice and Liza. The simple stage design and effective use of video technology and lighting were instrumental in delivering the interesting storytelling, especially in Act 1.
